Glad you are ok with it existing. I do find it funny how as time passes, those that supported controversial music at one time find them selves griping about the 'music of today'. Are you certain it was techno? I rarely hear it played in coffeeshops. I'm not old, and I'm not griping about the music ...

Today, Amsterdam (not to mention Belgium) has quite a reputation for very good and creative electronic music (house and techno, imho). You may not like this type of music, but not sure how that makes it bad! Yes it does! Seriously though- I don't mind that sort of thing existing, but in most cities...

I found Amsterdam straight up horrifying for music. Bars seemed better than coffeeshops, but the number of places that play super loud techno or emo or something (NOT modern music...all been around for 20+ years now) is staggering.
