Yes, get a multi day pass and learn to use the trams. You can walk, but you make more efficient use of your time with the tram or bus. You can always get more stash at the coffeeshop, you can get cash at the ATM, but you can't buy more time. Leidseplein is a good stop for trams, several stop there ...
