Re: My spur of the moment 1st solo trip!!!

Let's help you get to Paradox! Start at Westerkerk. Cross the Prinsengraacht vis Rozengracht. Blackstar is on your left. Waltz down to the first cross street, Eerste Bloemdwaarstraat. Turn right onto that street. 2 blocks on left before you get to the canal that runs perpendicular to Prinsengraacht....

Re: CopenhagenCouple live-ish from the dam

I really enjoy reading your posts about your visit. You do a good job of sharing your enthusiasm for AMS. I try to capture that enthusiasm, too, and appreciate it when I read it from someone else. AMS is truly a magical place. I'm happy to hear you rented bikes at Mike's. This board directed me to M...

High Five in Life! La Tertulia Menu (now with pic)!

I was looking through my pics from my Easter Trip, and what is sandwiched b/t two nondescript photos on my phone? La Tertulia Menu. It's from March 27th, but it is at least recent! I'll send to the CS menu website. That photo was one of my big missions to accomplish on this trip. Evidently, mission ...

Re: What's the weather like?

Ha, ha - sticky. DeLeukste, you should share some real life humidity stories from Baton Rouge. I'm in Houston, and you really do not know what humidity means until you are sitting outside at 1 a.m. and it is 95 degrees with 90% humidity . . . yes, at 1 a.m. Right now it feels like 106 with 90% humid...

I live in a state that blames everything on, "that marijuana." Kids are overdosing on prescription pills . . . it is marijuana's fault. Traffic lights do not work properly . . . blame marijuana. In one Board meeting, someone likened crystal meth to marijuana. Rest assured that the state of...

Re: Greetings

You cannot find a better source of information than this site. Welcome to the forum. I highly suggest reviewing trip reports and reading about various Coffeeshops. Then be sure to ask questions. I've found the posters on this board to be very helpful. And don't forget to add a little culture. The mu...

Re: Another solo journey

Great report, whisx! Thanks for referring me over here. I enjoyed your writing style. I'm fiercely missing AMS today. So I find myself sitting at work, reviewing some docs I need to get out next week, and have the Koeningsplein webcam up enjoying the scenery. I had a great experience at Dolphins one...

You are 40 and have children with disposable income enough to fly you to AMS? Wow! We are on 2 different paths because I am 40 and having my first kid later this year. Maybe my kids will take me to AMS when I am 60. Anyway, I visited AMS for my 40th, too. It was a glorious time! I am excited for you...

Re: LLMReb's May 11-15 Trip Report (w/ pics)

Thanks whisx. You will need to update your signature line! Congrats on your trip. After going alone, I wonder if that is the best way to go. It was so liberating to do what I wanted to do without being concerned with someone else. My wife, for example, enjoys going with me to AMS, but she would neve...

Re: Hangouts for "Veterans"

DeLeukste nailed it. Paradox is A+. There were times that at age 40, I was the youngest in there. La Tertulia is A+, too. Good mix, but the younger clients (20s and 30s) are obviously a bit more mature playing Risk and whatnot. The owners will be in their late 50s to 60s, and they are always there. ...
