The Di-Ann is a great little find! The staff there are really friendly, and although they aren't overtly "smoker-friendly", because ALL the hotels have to obey the rules regarding smoking inside, they do turn a blind eye so long as you're discreet... Ask for a room with a balcony and you'r...

I can heartily recommend the Vijaya - cheap enough for an en-suite room and great location too. Nice and clean... oh, and the staff are friendly!

Have fun!

Thanks everyone for stopping by... 8) Bigbuds - I've flown a lot of times now, and not just the short flights to and from Amsterdam, so most things don't phase me anymore... So long as I reach my final destination, it's all good! :) Toker70 - I think from my very rough notes and the memories writing...

Thanks courtjester! Here we go... the last day. Day 4. I awoke to the sound of bells... no, not fire alarms, but the usual morning chorus from the church bells that dominate Amsterdam's morning soundtrack... It was 7am. I rolled over. Hmmm - my back's stopped hurting - now when did that happen??? Mu...

Thanks for the kind words folks! Geoff - I didn't think I was gonna make it either!!! I had visions of sitting in the airport, watching plane after plane leave... To be fair though, I've only ever experienced delays like that once before, and that was due to weather coming back from Amsterdam...

Wow! I really ramble on when I'm writing up reports stoned!!! Sorry folks - for those still with us, I'll try and keep it briefer!! After leaving De Kuil at around 11.45pm, I strolled back to the hotel and crashed... I slept quite badly the first night, due to my back pains, but roused mysel...

Trip Report 20th - 23rd October

Well, I've recovered somewhat from the stresses of going on holiday yet again! I know... the whole point of a break away somewhere is to (hopefully) DE-stress, but these things rarely go to plan... I had everything prepared to go - my bag was packed, my £'s turned to €'s, my passport and travel insu...

Cheers, hulldj! ;) To be honest, after so many years of visiting Amsterdam, I still get lost from time to time - especially if I've been exploring new areas or (more often) am heroically mullered! It's at these times in the past, I'd wished that I'd had some sort of magical "direct-me-home"...

Well I've got to say I like the easy way you can now check in online! Click, click, click, and it's all done. Only problem I had was my printer suddenly deciding not to work properly in colour, so the boarding pass looks a little different to how it should - I think a quick stop at work on the way t...

Cool. Depending on munchie attacks, I may very well be there early meself. I've actually lost track of how many times I've been to Amsterdam now... First trip, if memory serves, was nearly 20yrs ago! Some things have changed, but the vibe is always the same there... 8) I can't claim to have a vast k...

Meet & Greet - Tuesday Oct 21st - De Kuil @ 2pm

Ok folks - here's the plan! Tuesday Oct 21st 2pm @ De Kuil (Cafe 420). As there are going to be a few ACD members in town, our "social director" FlyByNite, has made the suggestion of a meet & greet! So here's the open invitation to anyone who fancies a smoke session of mammoth p...

Sounds like a plan, fellas! There's a nice big table at the back, so we can probably take over the back half of the shop if there's enough of us!!! I'll post another thread, advertising the meet&greet in De Kuil in the main Travel Plans forum, in case people haven't read through this o...

Cheers for the replies guys... I'm a creature of habit sadly, and tend to spend an awful lot of time in De Kuil and Amnesia, so this is probably the best place to catch me - I can take the initiative FlyByNite, and suggest perhaps for the 21st, De Kuil at 2pm? Or would people prefer something later i...

If you find yourselves without a booking before you go, Diddy, try the Hotel Beursstraat, close to the Grasshopper on Beursstraat... They don't book online, so you've a fair chance of getting a room there if you get there early enough.

I've stayed there three times now with no complaints...
