I am in the States and I am taking my first trip to Amsterdam in Feb of 09. My first thoughts were it is the wrong time......one euro cost me $1.58. My wife bought me a round trip ticket for $1000........I booked a room that at this time will cost 6oo for 8 nights............I expect to spend at lea...

My plans are to spend most of my time in Amsterdam, I will be in country for 9 days. I have heard a lot of good things about haarlem and plan to go there. What are other good day trips from the Dam?

Thanks for the information.........I am going to go and buy a small, laptop to bring along...........My laptop I have now is a heavy weight.......over ten lbs with the charger........and the batt. don't last a hour...

I am thinking about bringing a laptop to Amsterdam with me. Are there places to go where I can get on the net? I won't have internet access at the hotel I am staying at. What other information do I need to know before coming over with a laptop?

I am booked for 8 nights starting on Feb 10th. It looks good to me and I like the way it is close to the Mellow Yellow.

I have read and believe that trying to bring anything back is dumb. Can you bring back papers, pipes ect? How risky is sending something by mail?

I have booked the Asterisk for the 11th thru the 19th of Feb 2009..
I am going alone and hope to meet a lot of people and have a smoke with each one.

Has anyone seen a map of amsterdam that shows distance? How far is it from central station to the Mellow Yellow? I like to walk but can't tell if it is 1 mile or 5.
