Take the train to Haarlem for the whole day, awesome town, great coffeeshops, sights, and people. Feels different than A'dam too. Just my two cents.

Yep, I agree with you Prof. Noon CS wasn't very friendly or superb gear either for that matter. It was the closest CS to my hotel so I dropped in.
I will skip it next visit to A'dam. STIX, Rokeri IV, and Centraal CS were more my type, imo.

The wife and I just got back from 10 days in Canmore & Banff. Montreal is on our must visit list for 08' or 09'. Enjoy cycling and CS's in the evening. You gotta try the STIX temple ball hash. Holy crap, what a fun way to spend an evening or two. Enjoy Dam! Foxflag in Oregon.
