Noticed Google Maps has a pic of the Grey Area highlighted on the Amsterdam map. Enter the address (Oude Leliestraat 2) into the address bar at the top left of the Google Maps page, then click the magnifying glass to fly you to shop's location. Be certain the Geographic Web option is checked in the ...

Re: Meet and great protocol

Seems like there is a lot of social consciousness about germs and hygiene, etc... so it would only reason to argue that passing a community doobie should be frowned on.TC You're likely going to have more risk of exposure from touching things in public place, such as door handles, than you would sha...

It will be a learning curve, I learnt how to ride a bike as a kid, but I need to learnto ride a bike in Amsterdam now, it's a whole new experience ;) +1 on that. Used to live on a small island in Michigan (Mackinac Island) where there are no cars, only horse-drawn carriages and freight wagons, and ...

Right, thanks!

For me, it's more about showing respect by trying to learn a bit of Dutch. I'm fortunate enough to have the time and the means to do so.

You pick up more little words just being there than any book. Perhaps, but in just a few minutes w/ the interactive language program I can count from 1-10, and know Dutch for the folllwing: Man Woman Boy Girl Dog Bird Automobile Red Blue Yellow/Orange House White Airplane (THAT'S a tough one) Horse...

Poll Question: Tram or Bicycle?

Will be in town for a week in early October, and thought of renting a bike for my stay, but may just opt of Trams exclusively. Comments always appreciated, and thanks for voting!

I got my strippenkaart at the VVV in Schipol. Anyone know when they're going to eliminate the tram strippenkaart for the electronic card, if they haven't already? From C.S. Collins: "By 2008 they'll be using cards for the trams as well, and the strippenkaart will become a collector's item."

California Legislator Sees Benefit in Legalizing Pot

I'd vote for this Legislator any day, although the proposed tax seems a bit steep.

I'm going in April, and just read an article that said the euro is supposed to lose ground throughout the year. I look every day, hoping for a euro crash! Be careful what you wish for; a crash would surely result in skyrocketing inflation. Eastern Europe is already headed for the shitter, wit...

Euro vs. U.S. Dollar

Although my trip isn't until October, I've been keenly watching the Euro/U.S. Dollar exchange rate. The Wall Street Journal has interesting information and up-to-the minute rates on all major currencies. I have a local currency dealer who can exchange for about 5% above current rates, which is the b...
