OK, so I told my girlfriend where I was going. I was saving telling her until it was definite I was going. Her first comment was "do you have enough life insurance to cover your debts?" Nothing like reminding me why I am not taking her. She can be SO not fun sometimes. Her idea of the perf...

> On occasion cars sometimes end up in the water as a result of bad parking or because the driver misses the ridiculously low fences that line the canals. According to Amsterdam's authorities this happens far more often to men than women. :: rimshot :: Ha ha ha. Hilarity ensues. Men are dumb, women ...

> American beer is water with a little beer added, which can't be called beer actually. Budweiser was bad enough, who can drink Bud LIGHT? I agree, Budweiser is not really beer. But there are many fine microbreweries in America, and there are beers made here which any beer drinker around the world w...

Jet Lag

OK, so I'm going to be landing at Schipol on a Friday at 0730. Because of the time zones and the jet, my body will think it is 2330, though. And I will have easily have been up for 17 hours at that point. I have to figure a rational person would get some sleep, though, and face the day fresh and wel...

Thanks, JMey.

Seems like a great board. I have been browsing it for many hours and I have not seen any dramas on snarks. Very refreshing.

Point made. And taken. Much appreciated.

I do like to write, so there is no doubt I'm going to have more than a few paragraphs to post.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Fly, and 67!

I always cross the street BETWEEN intersections, not AT them, though. True, it is jaywalking, but i much prefer to have to look in only two directions, rather than four (or 12, as it seems in some Amsterdam intersections). We'll see how that works out

List of tobacco friendly shops?

I did search, but could not find... is there a thread or a list of tobacco friendly shops? Either allowing it in an outdoor seating area, or inside an enclosure?

Thanks!

First trip to Amsterdam (27 Aug - 9 Sep)

Staying at the De Roode Leeuw hotel (looks like it's a couple hundred meters from the Dam, on Damrak). I'm counting the days (12!)
