I was there last year...all the coffee shops were open and most of the restaurants...cold as hell though! a most enjoyable time!!

Hash, hash, and more hash...weed is great but you can always get it...hash is a completely separate level...in the early 70's in Germany, we could not get weed...sometimes we got African weed in matchboxes (anybody remember that?) but we could get all the hash we could smoke...I became very enamored...

Amsterdam is unique in that the CS become part of one's personality...I prefer the local shops or the ones less frequented by tourists. You will find a favorite CS while you are there and will visit it each trip...I have been many times to AMS and I still have my fav shops and a list of shops I like...
