I am not trying to poach. But if you are interested in AMS NYOP bidding then go to TA-Amsterdam Forum. They have tons more Amsterdam PL info than those other two bidding sites combined. Although www.betterbidding.com is a great place for general PL advice. The people at TA will walk you thru a bid. ...

Now as far as 5 stars. They are a bit more expensive than a 4. But we have so few less winners so its hard to see much of a trend. But IMO around $90-$112 USD or so you do see 5 star winners. But a point of info re. that list. The Marriott is now a 5 star not a 4. And the Bilderberg Garden Hotel is ...

"If you are not traveling alone but with a partner is it accepted to stay 2 persons in a single room " In fact you can stay in a PL room as a single. There is just no way to bid on a single room thru PL. All PL rooms are double rooms. So the answer is yes you will have no problem with 2 of...

While that hotel list is interesting it is pretty worthless as far as what you might get. They have been following this all 2009 over at Tripadvisor-Amsterdam Forum. You see ebbs and flows as to what hotels you are likely to get. This summer there was a run on the NH Carlton. Also the NH Canarsa for...

55 euros a night inc tax etc for a 4 star double room at the NH Amsterdam Centre. I think I may have overpaid by at least a euro.

Thanks Wallnuts for that update on the Carlton. I may still get that one since I have another reservation to make for my trip.

I just scored the NH Amsterdam Centre for my first win. Right next to the Marriott.

If anyone does try Priceline this is the best place to try and judge what to pay for what hotel: http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/ but nothings 100%. Actually that is outdated info Boner. Biddingfortravel used to be great. But it has dried up to the point where AMS postings may come now 1x or 2x a ...

I used Priceline once and ended up getting a good (not great) deal for what was the Apollolaan Hotel (can't remember the name off hand) and this was classed as in the Centrum which if you look at a map it clearly isn't, Pricelines great if you want to pay for a mystery hotel, personally I'd rather ...

Go over to Tripadvisor/NL forum. There you will see several threads on 4 and 5 star hotels plus a sticky on the right for "cheap hotels". Hands down the best advice on this question you will get. 4 star hotels for approx $80 USD a night all in. (3 x that amount if you book the hotel direct...

Unless you are a real heavy sleeper try and get a room at the back. The street noise on that street is moderately intense. Both late into the night and early in the morning.

I found that an issue when I stayed virtually next door to your hotel.

Some may not be bothered but I sure was.

Millweed, it is a highly reviewed hotel that you have booked. But over the last few years my thnking on AMS hotels has evolved. When I started to go the exchange rate was way in my favor. So I was getting 1 and 2 star hotels for a great deal. If the rate was 35 euros I was staying for maybe $25 USD....

Sorry millweed, but it was not meant to be sarcastic. In fact I do hope things work out for you. Although I doubt that you have pre paid for your room and could cancel if you wanted. The advice was actually for others who may be thinking about staying in AMS and are wondering what a good value is. I...
