A desk fan will be fine for early veg! Also, the smell shouldn't be a problem until after flowering. Just keep the air moving pretty well during the veg stage, then extract after flowering when you notice more odor!

I would take well grown SSH over AH, any day! But, the SSH probably takes a little longer!
