Smoking acceptable in bars in Netherlands?
The private club thread got me wondering if there is any sort of legal barrier to allowing cannabis consumption in a bar in the Netherlands. Obviously the coffeeshop scene is well established, but I have not yet been in a bar in which there were cannabis smokers. What's to stop one from going into b...

I like Foodism, next to Grey Area. You can get a nice plate of pasta well prepared for around ten Euro or less. Speaking of that area, there is a nice little bar across the street called Cafe Zool. Tim has been open about 15 months, and it's a great stop for a Pilsner Urquell after baking at Grey Ar...

You know, we stopped in De Kuil (4:20) for beer but did not buy any gear. It 's a good chillout for the middle-aged crowd. I never thought I would say this, but I wish they would turn the music up just a wee bit. One has to strain to hear, at least near the door. And if it's FZ then it deserves to b...

Yep, a Colonial :-) Had this trip planned for a while. Other trips I swung back through 'dam after business elsewhere in Europe. It's easy enough to book an open jaw ticket, you know, fly to Paris/London then to 'dam at the conclusion of business, then fly home from Schiphol. I went in August and ag...

Tolstraat is easy. Tram 4 (others as well), get off at the Lutmastraat stop. Walk back toward centrum and make a right on Tolstraat. If you're going south when you get off, the tram stop is basically right there at Tolstraat. Greenhouse will be just on your left, maybe 50 meters off the main street....

Tolstraat
We made Tolstraat our first stop on 31 Dec and got hammered. The Arjan's #2, as well as Neville's are both first rate. Their current NY Diesel is tasty as well. I couldn't make it by Hunter's per Bushdocter's recommedation. Can't imagine it being much better than the Greenhouse offering. Then again....

NYE report
We arrived Friday morning 30 Dec. Staying near the Albery Cuyp market, Katsu was a logical choice to stock up on gear. I had six with me in a group, and so could not move as fast nor go as many places as I normally would do by myself. However, there is one real advantage to a group of this size: you...

no doubt Bush and this administration can be criticized about many things but the war on drugs is not one of them. This policy has been ongoing for a few decades now. Even Carter back in the seventies had thoughts about reforming some of the weed laws but like every president does not want to touch...

If we are viewed as uninformed or naive that would be quite typical, after living next door for over a century it has become the expected response. I make this statement based on your post, nothing more. As I said, anyone believing this crap started with GWB may fit into that category, and your spi...

New Years Eve questions
Hello all - This will be my sixth trip in 15 months. However, last NYE we stayed in Centrum and public transport was not an issue. This time around, we're staying near Heinken. 1. Is it true trams and buses stop service early on 31 Dec? 2. I have a larger group with me (7 total). Can anyone recommen...

Forum newbie here - I'll be in AMS over NYE (arrive 30Dec, depart 2Jan), would appreciate any real time reports next Tuesday or Wednesday (27Dec, 28Dec) re: best gear currently available. Not my first time in AMS by a long shot, but will still be grateful for any real time intel available. I'll be h...
