Re: Scottish Independence Referendum 18/09/14
It's all kicking off now since the first poll to show a YES lead, albeit by a point, it feels to me very much that it will be a YES vote on the street, but that may be observational bias on my part, and more indicative of my peer group perhaps.

Re: Best for drinking and smoking at the same time
Excalibur was smoking allowed a year or two back, doesn't look like the sort of place that wants to gentrify, thankfully. A win if you can handle the metal...

Re: Scottish Independence Referendum 18/09/14
Several things, as i understand them: 1) Scotland will have little oil if they vote "yes", as the North Sea oil field is almost tapped out (despite what Salmond wants you all to think). 2) The rest of Britain cares more about Cliff Richard than what Scotland is doing. 3) Scotland WILL vot...

Re: Scottish Independence Referendum 18/09/14
The rest of the UK would loose it's position in the oil sector, impact on GDP/business in general, less clout in Europe. I think this is the key fact uppermost in Westminster's mind, but when a fifth of all Scots kids are born into poverty, why should the fate of rUK bother me? The UK is ineptly go...

Re: Mondragon goes Fourth 08-12/10
I'll provisionally say Thursday 9th, Voyager at 20.00 hrs.
More informally I'll probably be stopping in the same place as soon as I get off the train on Wednesday, sometime after 13.00, I must stop at a coffeeshop before checking in, it's the law...

Scottish Independence Referendum 18/09/14
I'm voting YES for a number of reasons, foremost amongst them accountability. The UK has one of the most corruptible, change-resistant polities in the West, First Past The Post PLUS an unelected Upper Chamber, and in that system the opinion of Scotland carries little weight. As the UK drifts ever ri...

Well alright, coming over in October to scope out Leiden Uni's Masters Info day, so naturally will pushing the trichometrics as hard as possible. I never finished my trip report from 2012, never will either, so I might LIVE update this one, see how shit pans out, I'm just going to glory in the futur...

Honestly, the bong is the answer, particularly with some extra ash-catcher/percolating etc madness to smooth it out more, plus loads of ice, though too much ice too often might give you pneumonia...

Re: Studying in the Netherlands
Yeah, sounds good, I'm hoping to do a research degree though, I don't know if there will be many exams, lots of essays though. All the institutions I looked at were highly placed in the rankings, although the subjects differ, I just a) really fancy a change, and b) there is a huge Dutch element in w...

Re: Studying in the Netherlands
I've pretty much decided to do my postgrad masters in NL, in a couple of years time at most. It's the perfect mix of subject (C17th Dutch Art), the place, and fees that show the Govt takes education seriously, unlike the anti-meritocratic UK.

Re: So the Weed pass thing? and your thoughts?
I'd start learning Spanish or whatever they speak up in Basque country if I were you. Euskadi, which is Basque for Basque, nice place, but they are dead set on no-one getting good jobs unless they speak the local, difficult, unrelated to anything in the nearest 4000 mile vicinity, language. They mi...
