its called saganaki.. its more or less fried cheese with oil and lemon.. after its fried they then pour a shop of some alcohol that flames up.

But if your father gave up his{or his family gave up} German citizenship to become an American citizen than the answer is no.Unless your father carries dual citizenship.But back then that was not really done.You had to choose one or the other.
