Re: Morning Mongering Truffles

I went up to one and asked how much for an unpretentious street in a relatively quiet area, maybe 200 metres' worth. He told me to piss off. They don't seem to take their business seriously.

Re: Amsterdam 16,17,18 MAY 2012

That's an impressive list of sampling. For me this time the stand-outs were Utopia's temple ball and de Graal's NY Diesel, which are both on your list. And I agree with the others -- if you don't feel confident in posting in English, post in French. The uncircumcised philistines, may moan, but they ...

Re: Going to Wassenaar in Sept

You're closest to Leiden, really, but I've never been there and don't know how many people here have more personal knowledge. As you've got a car and are only 50km from A'dam, it shouldn't be a problem to get to there. There's this thread here: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...

ACD page: https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/Sheiva.html (no reviews) This was my first stop this trip, as I couldn't find Club Media (no idea why, as it was exactly where the map said it would be the next day when I came that way again). As I couldn't remember anyone saying anything about it, I passe...

Smoking de Pijp and predicting the future

Just returned from five busy days sampling cannabis and culture. As I didn't take photos in any of the 6 (or was it 7? but that's a story in itself) museums, even where it was allowed, the ones I do have are of cats, coffeeshops, et cetera. More text and perhaps more pictures later. https://picasawe...

Re: Dutch Flyer

Paid £117 in the end for the night ferry out, day ferry back. They lied about these being practically cruise ships - nothing was new since the last time I took the Beatrix in the '80s, as far as I could see, apart from the internet terminals that were very slow (and which consider ACD a banned site)...

Re: going to De Pijp

I left yesterday, and am weeping still. Did consider arranging a chess and chat in de Graal when I was staying in the area, but thought that people who didn't want to play chess might be put off. And with the weather being as uncertain as it was, I tended to do things on the spur of the moment. In a...

Re: Voyagers

I left A'dam today, and arrived at Centraal Station with a couple of hours to spare intending to check trains, put money on my chipkaart and have a last smoke. At 9.50 Voyagers wasn't open, so I did all the other stuff first. At about five past 10 it was. I hadn't had a smoke in here before, though ...

Re: going to De Pijp

De Graal is good for those of us with only stupid phones, and a dead netbook. Also, very nice selection of things to smoke. And chess.

Re: Exchange rate getting better this last month or so!

So I went to Thomas Cook at Marble Arch, and the bloke said €500 would cost £427. Wtf? OK, it went down slightly since yesterday, but surely not by that much? So I said they quoted £400 over the phone. At which point he changed his tune said he could give me the 'VIP rate' – just under €1.25 to £1. ...

Re: Exchange rate getting better this last month or so!

Where are you guys getting these rates? I was quoted €500 for £409 at the Post Office, which is supposed to be the best deal according to some sites.

Edit: never mind. Was just told it would cost £400 at Thomas Cook.

Re: Next Trip

When I was there I wanted to get the three for €25 deal on the jelly, but they only had one €10 bag left, so I settled for that. However, they did have a 2.8g bag at €50, which I decided not to go for, having never had it. Definitely won't make that mistake again. It's great stuff.

Re: Tolerance

Well, I cracked, and phoned up my friendly supplier. But he couldn't come round yesterday, arranged to come early today, and I thought better of it and called to cancel. Yay me. Now I'm counting the hours until I get into the Dam on Sunday morning, and thinking of how sweet it'll be when I drop my s...
