So I went to Thomas Cook at Marble Arch, and the bloke said €500 would cost £427. Wtf? OK, it went down slightly since yesterday, but surely not by that much? So I said they quoted £400 over the phone. At which point he changed his tune said he could give me the 'VIP rate' – just under €1.25 to £1. ...

Where are you guys getting these rates? I was quoted €500 for £409 at the Post Office, which is supposed to be the best deal according to some sites.

Edit: never mind. Was just told it would cost £400 at Thomas Cook.

When I was there I wanted to get the three for €25 deal on the jelly, but they only had one €10 bag left, so I settled for that. However, they did have a 2.8g bag at €50, which I decided not to go for, having never had it. Definitely won't make that mistake again. It's great stuff.

Especially when you're not giving any yourself...
