I have stayed at both expensive hotels costing me a fortune with fancy restaurants and the cheapest hostels to wake up finding I had thrown up my McDonalds in my sleep.
Always found the cheaper stays were more memorable and met the more interesting people there.

Usually my first stop in Amsterdam for a space cake, quick smoke and nice cup of tea. The Indian theme with the wonderful wooden carving of Ganesh gives the place a chilled out vibe, so the occasional techno/trance seems to clash.
