I've tidied up the loose ends now. The correspondent's comments are up to date and a couple of other bits and pieces are sorted. Although the new style uses more graphics, it actually makes the pages smaller, clearing more space for comments. Somebody mentioned the header being messed up but later s...

Thanks very much but it won't pass through my account, it goes directly to "slimline" Peter. In fact, I make occasional donations myself. Only the other day I sent £50 from my PayPal account (and £250 to the Pakistan floods appeal). I very much appreciate all contributions made to him, tho...

Streetview phase 1 is out there. There are Streetview windows on every Amsterdam shop except those on pedestrian streets such as Warmoesstraat and Czaar Peterstraat. Even the sites of closed shops are included. I've done lots of work on the stylesheet to make the page files smaller and fixed a coupl...

Streetview preview

I've been busy driving around Amsterdam on Streetview, finding all of the coffeeshops and noting their coordinates and camera angles in the database. Here's one page from the prototype site. Test page Please let me know of any browser problems. I've tested it on Chrome and Internet Explorer so far.

I've made a few attempts to plot all of the shops on Google Maps but the size of the task has always overwhelmed me. Most of my evenings are already spent answering emails and PMs, enabling forum memberships and updating the main site. Nevertheless, I'm now working on finding all of the shops on Str...

Yep, or at least it was. It's a bar now. The others are (or were) 222, Dread Rock and Paradise. Closed shops will never be replaced so it's always sad to lose them. The likes of La Canna and Paradise aren't such a big loss though.

Many of those shops still exist, they just have new names. If anyone knows of a shop listed as open in the Directory that's actually closed, please let me know. Here's a few that have clearly gone. I was going to caption the pics with the shop names but maybe it's more fun to try to figure them out....

Gig was brilliant. Smoked several spliffs of Laughing Buddha to myself through yesterday. After the gig J joined me for a couple of well-loaded White Widow Volcanoes and we slept like logs through to midday.

Thanks everyone.

It's getting noisy outside - I think they won! 8) :)

J says I never take her shopping in Amsterdam so we've been around the shops today. Popped into Rokerij 4 in Jordaan earlier. Got some nice Laughing Buddha for 9 euros/g. Got a few photos in there too.

Gig next.

Amsterdam Escape are looking after us well as usual. They've given me this MacBook laptop in the apartment with some kind of WiFi connection so I can log in here. I'm just about getting the hang of it now. They've also given us a Volcano that I haven't even tried yet. There was a bag of Cheese and o...
