Day trip to Amsterdam

Post by kalima »

Off for another of our “works outing “ to Amsterdam, and so being just a day trip we were up at 3am to get the first flight out of Gatwick . Had a quick tea and a mango haze j to get in the mood.
Now I have a really bad habit of missing flights, primarily because I forget to check the flight details properly, well not putting my glasses on to read the details 😂, and I almost did it again today😳.
So we arrive at the airport, thinking we have time for a shanti coffee and sandwich, then we check the departure board and realise the flight leaves 30 minutes early , so we have a dash to the gate, but we manage to make the gate and grad coffee and sandwich 🎉.
So here we are sat on the tarmac about to leave, and apparently it is going to be a lovely sunny day , 25 degrees.
Unfortunately we have a slightly delay now due to fog in Amsterdam but we will be there soon. So now where to head for first smoke?

Definitely pop in there but possibly on way home, might head to Het Gelderse for some of there silverhaze as reconvened in here.
And at present it is foggy but warm, so should allow for a possible walk out to th stud , to check them out 😉

If you got time to go that far for sure go! :) And don't miss Her Ballonnetje on the way to the stud! :D If distance is no problem, these would be our three top recommendations:

Het Ballonnetje
Baba
The Stud

Any other shop is, at least from our experiences during 420 week, a good deal behind these three when it comes to qualify (Het Ballonnetje #1, followed a bit behind by Baba) and / or quality for money (both Baba and the balloon are very reasonable with price range compared to center shops, the stud is only rivaled by the Boer chain for value for money and at least at last visit had superior quality to Boer chain).

Voyagers, Easy Times, the Plug

Would be my top picks for quality.

Maybe Boer, Balloon and Dampkring Original just behind them.

Balloon, Utopia and Easy Times would be my top 3.

Also I found Resin pretty good for the Cheese Hash!

Well we decided to go to the Plug for our first smoke but no coffee machine there,  , I mean I know it is a short flight but the 3am start means that a coffee with the first smoke in Amsterdam, is quite essential. Anyway, popped into the plug, very different vibe there to utopia, and look, but I know that has been discussed in other threads. Bigger selection, but being first thing we went for a gram of Amnesia, they have 2 salivas, and despite CC recommendation, which I highly value, we thought the key lime pie, was maybe a bit heavy for the first smoke :) , the chitral, which we started the last trip with, really didn't look or smell great/right, not sure what it was, but nothing like before. The amnesia, was a good example of it, and great for the first smoke of the day, especially with the mist clearing and the sun coming out. the Bud tender was super friendly and apologetic about the fact the coffee machine was due the next day.
did glance at the pots of other weeds there, and I know looks aren't everything, but at 15-16 eurros a gram, double what I pay in uk, I do expect the buds to look at least pukka, rather than a bit scraggly and stalky, but we didn't check them out, so it may be that it was all amazing, so don't want to make an unfair judgement on them.
the only other thing was that the music was really bad and loud, I do like to go to a coffee shop to socialise and chat, and I don't consider myself a music facial, I am happy with most stuff, if background music. I know I am, getting on a bit, but I really can't handle shit rap/r and b, that people play these days, and they were playing the worse, , don't get me wrong, I love NWA, public enemy and old school, but this new stuff, well not for me.
anyway a vape and joint later we emerge into a rapidly warming Amsterdam, and wonder where to head off to next?
We had thought about trying to get out to the stud, but I think we realised this was going to probably happen, so we decided to go and check out Baghera coffeeshop, never been, but seen Marok21 reviews of their hash, what better recommendation would you need , so decided to check it out.
pleasant walk, there and even better the tables outside were free :), chatted to the lovely BT their, she was really helpful and friendly, happily showed us all the types of has and their 2 sativas , the G13 and super silver haze, I think they were both about 12 euros, we decided on the haze, as it looked and smelt slightly better. it was a nice enough smoke, a little dry and I must say it went pretty quick in the vape. we also brought some of the 24k hash and the lemon candy hash, ok the 24k was a lot more earthy ,what I say darker danker smell and that more deeper taste and heaver smoke , you get with an indica, still light and crumbly, in appearance.
The lemon candy was, well the smoke of the trip, super light and high end tones, and, a super high that fitted so perfectly with the lovely warm sunny day, I really can't recommend this one enough, cut through everything else, super up hit, just perfect and wish I had brought more than we did, I was smoking it on my new vape, the spirit, £109 , but what an amazing vape for smoking hash, you need to but the resin canister, but I think this vape is the best I have smoked for hash, smaller than the pax 3, but still a decent quantity and perfect for walking around with.

After bagheera we decided to head out to het ballonetje as we knew they had Girl Scout cookie on the menu and the birthday girl want to have some, as this is her favourite smoke, and when we visited last time we sampled the GSC hash which was lovely . we went via the botanical gardens and as we had decided not to head out as far as the stud, we decided to chill in the park for a while and to enjoy some more of the lovely hash in the vape. sat in the sunshine, and relaxed with another chamber of the lemon candy.
When we arrived at het ballonetje, it was fairly quiet, we looked at the menu, not sure why, as we already basically knew what we wanted  . and we went for the GSC in the flower and solid form, I haven't smoked much of this, but the flavour was lovely and well only want I can describe and a super well rounded taste and the hash was as lovely as the last time, with a good hit. we sat and had a couple of coffees in the window seats and watched the world go by and studied all the various forms of bicycle children carriers, love the Segways ones with the huge bucket on the from, for the kids. Never realised how many different versions there were. As always the het B, wa very welcoming and friendly, but time was getting on, and we decided to grab a bit more sun, and a slow walk back to the centrum, for one more stop before having to get the train back to the airport.
Decided to visit Siberie for our last stop, close to the station and generally a nice relaxed coffeeshop, ordered a gram of their Amnesia, now where as good as the plug/utopia, but it enabled us to roll up the last of a 24 k hash and GSC and then off to the airport and back home.
