That's a shame. It's shaping up to be a good one too. Any chance you might change your mind?

Regarding the East Crawl

If the weather is reasonable I'm quite happy to walk but trams might be quicker and easier. Bikes would probably work well too.

From Centraal to Ballonnetje it's tram 9 to the Artis stop and then walk the last bit. There used to be a tram that stopped closer but that seems to have ended.

From there the obvious place to hit next would be the cluster of coffeeshops around the brewery windmill and Dapper market. They are Happy People, Eastwood and Trefpunt. They're all quite close together and used to get raved about on here. Eastwood has been out of action for a while but is back now.

To get there by tram you'd walk back to the Artis stop and then catch tram 14 for a couple of stops to Pontanusstraat.

Next up is less obvious. I'd quite like to take a quick look at Nogal Wiedes but it's a bit out of the way. It's right next to a tram stop on line 10 but that doesn't really help very much because tram 10 doesn’t go near Dappermarkt.

Another possibility is to head under the railway into Zeeburg. There are three coffeeshops there but they're fairly spread out. Warda 2 is the closest. Best Friends isn't too far from there and then there is The Stud further south on the same road.

Tram 14 goes from near Trefpunt to Javaplein, which is between Warda 2 and Best Friends.

There is a further cluster of coffeeshops around the Oosterpark. It seems very unlikely that we'd get around all of these but if we're walking we could return to the centre this way.

Alternatively we could skip the Zeeburg shops and go directly from the cluster near the windmill browsing along the Dappermarkt to Smoke Palace. From there a route via Los Angeles, The Point and the new Speak Easy would take us towards the Pijp.

p.s. I mentioned to Silvio, owner of The Stud, that we might make it out there. Just got a reply saying: "You and your hardcore smokers group are more than welcome. I also have a little surprise for you when you come."

I guess that gives us an objective to head for then!

Sorry to bear bad news but I wouldn't rely on Baba being open that early.

OK, change of plan regarding the East Crawl on 19th in view of this invite from The Stud.

The original plan meant that we were unlikely to get that far. If there's a chance of VIP treatment then I think we should make more effort to make sure we get there. Therefore I suggest we scrap the stops along the way and head straight out there at a specific time, say 2pm. If we're feeling keen we can then make some stops on the way back. The carnivores will presumably be in a hurry to get back for their date at de Klos at 4:20 anyway.

The Stud is close to Flevopark. It's also near Zeeburg campsite if anyone is staying out there.

Tram 14 from Dam Square stops nearby at Molukkenstraat. The mainline Muiderpoort train station is quite close if coming from Centraal. There's also a bus stop right outside the shop called Valentijnkade where busses 40 and 65 stop.
