Camping trip outside of Amsterdam
Camping trip outside of Amsterdam
Hi guys, first post here in quite a while. I've missed the place!
Anyway planning a family camping trip for a week this summer for me the Mrs and the little one, only ever done Amsterdam before so could do with some pointers for other places.
Will be getting the ferry Harwich to Hook of Holland, then can drive on anywhere from there really.
Looking for countryside campsites. Will have the car and bikes with us so getting around should be easy, and would like to do some buy-and-flys to pick up some smoke for later in the evenings
If anyone's got any ideas of places let me know, the more ideas the better, I'm just starting my planning.
Peace!

Check out flevoland..on a tram route too
Re: Camping trip outside of Amsterdam
Flevoland looks like a promising area, thanks!

Please be sure to post a report, Potimus. I’ve always been curious of Flevoland. My little man is 18 months and we did King’s Day w him last year. It is so much fun with the little ones. FYI the park and sandbox between Haarlemerstraat and Brouwersgraacht is a great location to play with the little one. You have a toilet there and can nip off 2 blocks to Siberie.

Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure I put up a report.

How was Kings Day with a little one in tow? Not too stressful?

Welcome back!
Duinrell at Wassenaar is a great campsite with a cracking water park and funfair for the kids. They have decent little chalet style accommodation and Leiden is only a short hop away.

I've not been to Duinrell, but heard it is meant to be most magnificent water slides etc Wassenaar beach itself is nice though, and that part of the country has quick connections to everywhere, very easy cycle to Leiden or Den Haag. I stayed at Camping Vliegenbos in Amsterdam Noord once, and it was a noisy eurobackpacker party zone, nae good for kids.

Yes the water slides are most magnificent - they're worthy of a trip as an adult as they are quite the hair raising experience with an almost vertical drop at the start. The velocity achievable is almost enough to force ones swimming trunks up the holiest of holies. I can attest to this.Pierre von Mondragon wrote: ↑Mon 12th Feb 2018 01:51 pm I've not been to Duinrell, but heard it is meant to be most magnificent water slides etc Wassenaar beach itself is nice though, and that part of the country has quick connections to everywhere, very easy cycle to Leiden or Den Haag. Cheers, blast-tastic hopefully!
Re: Camping trip outside of Amsterdam
Back in 1999 I stayed at a campsite just outside of Amsterdam, pretty sure it was Amstelveen, was a long time ago and not sure if it's still there. Was a great place and was a short bus/tram ride into the dam.
