30th April - 4th May. Tips for a day trip?

Post by Monkey »

Heading out soon and want to do a day trip out of Amsterdam, any tips on locations and things to do?

Been thinking Haarlem and then heading to the beach but unsure of the weather. Anyone done the Haarlem plus beach trip shiz before? Is it achievable in a day?

Also had a look at Rotterdam, ill be with my girl who doesnt smoke (very accepting of weed though) so will want other things to do too.

Are there any other places you knowledgeable peeps would recommend?

Any help much appreciated! :D

that haarlem/zandvoort trip is a very easy do (even by bike, weather/wind permitting) for a half-day trip. just about anywhere in the north and south holland, and flevoland provinces are an easy day trip. getting around the IJssel- and Markermeers (and train changes) adds quite a bit of travel time for going to places like Leeuwarden and Groningen.

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the April and May Whos In Town pages.
Scroll down to your month and click it.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop
(your favorite) and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to
show up, if they do you'll have a T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your
favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

Haarlem is a 15 minute train ride from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

My personal favorite Haarlem coffeeshop is Birdy.

Rent a bike at the Haarlem station and pedal to Zaandvoort

Enjoy

The Keukenhof will still be open Leiden is a fun university town and the wind mill museum is a fun stop on the way to both
Utrecht is a quaint city there canals are below street level and climb the old church tower when there
The National museum card is a good deal if the weather doesn’t cooperate
Have fun with whatever you do

You guys spoil me. Thanks for the info and advice!

I think were going to go for Haarlem due to its close proximity and beach options. Plus it looks like it might brighten up towards the end of the week.
