Re: Can you add tapatalk to the forum
just because reading and replying to the forum works in the browser doesn't mean that tapatalk is useless. It improves the forum experience on smartphones. It won't hurt anything or change the experience if you're not using it.

Tapatalk
It would be great to have this activated on this forum for smart phone users.
Mostly when I'm browsing ACD on my iPhone I'm doing it in public, and occasionally I need to be discreet, which is hard given the gigantic green leaf at the top of every page. Tapatalk just shows the basic forum layout so it's far quicker to load and uses much less of the monthly data allowance than loading ACD through Safari would.
It would make live trip reporting MUCH easier as well.
I can't think of any drawbacks..

Maybe Tapatalk could make an app for the forum?
I have no idea as to cost but was reading this after installing the xda app to my P920

Re: Can you add tapatalk to the forum
After flicking through the Xda and grasscity apps I think i would rather use a browser for ACD. The Xda one looks better but I like the format of ACD via browser on this phone, the screen on my Desire would have benefitted me if Lemming did install the plugin. I can see it as a positive addition to the forum.
If an official ACD app was available for ITunes and the Android market, people searching for apps would be directed here. (and I suppose Blackberry and windows need a little mention here too More memberships, more content for the forum. Especially as we now have a great team of extra moderators available to keep the trolls at bay.

I'm not ignoring this thread (honest!) just not acting on it at the moment. I don't really know what tapatalk is and haven't looked it up yet. I also don't have a smartphone to test it with.
My phone is called an "Amsterdam". How smart is that?!

Re: Can you add tapatalk to the forum
I noticed that this thread has not completely died yet, so here is a quick overview.
Tapatalk consists of two parts: a plug-in for you to install on the server that will optimize what is sent to the user's mobile device and an approximate on the user's device that he downloads from the app store. You would just be installing the server part.
The free option would be sufficient. No need to pay for a custom app.

Re: Can you add tapatalk to the forum
dear lemming, we (the growing no. of smartphone users) would be very very thankful if you would look into installing the plug-in, takes very little effort and does great benefit.
thx in advance

Re: Can you add tapatalk to the forum
Here's the problem -
Those that are tech-savvy / highly dependent on their smartphones love this app.
Those that use their smartphones for basic usage don't see the need and are content to use the browser because it's what they're used to. They are also put off by because the pro version of the app costs like $3. (There are very easy ways around this...)
Those that are not tech-savvy have no idea what we're talking about.

Re: Can you add tapatalk to the forum
I don't really see the "problem"
Installing the server component won't hurt anyone not wanting to use it. Since practically all new phones sold are smartphones, the number of smartphone users WILL be increasing.

Another vote for yes.
Tapatalk is really handy for fast loading and keeping data usage down.
I'm in Amsterdam at the start of June if anyone wanted to be shown it? (I don't know if the mods are local)
