Recommendations for the best Italian Restaurants in Dam?

Post by Pierre »

Hi guys..

I am an avid fan of Italian pastas, all types of pasta, especially pastas with white sauces and other Italian food .. can someone please recommend a good restaurant in town? Prices are not important, the important thing is to have Italian food at a high level...and NOT small gourmet dishes! ;)

tnx ACD'ers :)

In the category of "other Italian food"

La Perla. Pizzas here are delectable with sourced ingredients from Italy.

Toscanini
Lindengracht 75, Amsterdam

You usually need reservations - but worth planning ahead for. Totally Italian and the open kitchen is like watching a ballet.

2nd vote for la perla - it is a pizza shop - but the owner is a certified Italian pizza maker (sounds better in Italian!)

from chow hound :
Just found a great new little place in the center of Amsterdam, Nana Gentile, it's very close to the Palace on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwaal 289. It's a little tough to find but well worth it. Owned by a fellow American, the menu is Italian/American with a modern twist. Good prices, excellent wine list and for this country, GREAT SERVICE. We had 2 courses and 2 bottles of wine and the bill was just under 100E.

if you are looking for american style italian.... : >

A few years ago, our very own Blueberry recommended Ristorante Peppino to the masses, and she was spot on.
I've eaten at this restaurant at least 10 times, excellent service (except for one time during peak hours), but most importantly is the food. I've sampled a selection from each of the main course groups and every time the meal was prepared properly (meaning cooked well). The location is Leidsekruisstraat 30-32, near Leidseplein, less than 100 meters from Rookies.

Buon appetito...:)

I got to agree with Uncle Ron, Peppino rocks, you must try their Calzone, its to die for, and its on the same street as Rookies. :D :D
