Classic arcade games

Post by talkrum »

Pacman, Galaxian, Centipede, Asteroids, Space Invaders etc

Having recently installed windows 10 I have finally got round to installing and configuring some old Dos Arcade games. They are fabulous and like Angry Birds - totally addictive. I thought I would share a few links with the Acd Crew.
Between 1986 and 1988 a small american Company, Champ Programming - created 'new' versions of classic games and added perfect sound, superb graphics, new levels and in an addition to the classic arcade mode added an additional CHAMP-mode. Thanks to a fan who obtained permission from Champ Programming all the games are available free to download and together with Dosbox (also free) they work well.
Games - http://www.champ-em.com/download.htm - look for the Full versions
Dos Emulator http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1

Create a directory c:\champ and download and extract each zip file into the folder. Dosbox is relatively easy to use. load it, mount c:\champ and then run each game. Enjoy.

Never played King's Quest before - but I can now http://www.myabandonware.com/game/king- ... 47/play-47.
I am more a fan of simple shoot-em up games - no thinking required. Invaders, Galagon (Galaxia, Galaxian) are my specialty. In my (misspent) youth I spent a fortune (@ 10p a go) in the Shakespeare Pub on Summer Row in Birmingham mastering the dark arts. The beer was crap - M&B or Ansells - all gaseous expensive shite but with the music at the time and arcade games in every pub...................... I loved it. (btw hash was £5 a Q!). Feeling old now - time for a lie down.
