We are in the midst of a snap general election here in the UK. One of the parties, the Liberal Democratic Party, is proposing cannabis shops and legalised cultivation.
This is quite radical for this country. Unfortunately the Lib Dems don't stand a hope in hell of winning the election.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party, which currently has an inexperienced and reputedly extreme left-wing leader, looks like it's going to go with a very populist, almost Trump-esque, manifesto.
Interesting times indeed.

If only they hadn't sold out to Tory rule, They could have changed old blighty for the better.

Shame they don't stand a chance in the election, not helped with being in a coalition with the torys previously their popularity has dropped since.
Everyone feels they sold out on any of their core manifesto stuff before...now we hope for Labour to rid us of the torys but neither of those parties have any plans for legalisation..such a shame
Edit: Although I could see Labour coming round to such an idea when their funding through tax means doesnt work out?

Re: UK Lib Dems want legal cannabis
The most likely outcome looks like being a massive Tory majority but if, by some miracle, Labour achieve something then it would probably be as a coalition with the LibDems. That being the case then, just maybe, the LibDem cannabis policy could be adopted.
In these days of unreliable opinion polls I suppose it's just possible that the Tories won't win by miles.
It seems to me that all of the political parties here, and probably elsewhere, have suddenly started looking very old and irrelevant. Traditional left/right classifications seem outmoded.
Class divisions are being replaced by age divisions. Polling shows little difference between so-called working class and middle class propensity to support to support Labour or Conservative, although almost all LibDem support comes from middle classes. On the other hand, young people are far more likely to support Labour and older folks far more likely to vote Conservative.
Now we've seen all of the manifestos it's even more noticeable that Labour's is very populist whereas the Tories are so confident that they feel they can include policies such as a "dementia tax" and drop guarantees not to increase taxes for ordinary people. Could this yet cause an upset or is there too little time to turn it around?
