elvis66 wrote:I was over in the dam at the end of august, I think I had the haze which was very nice. The place was nice and welcoming apart from the shit techno music but I like to surroundings and the fish in the tank (which was pretty nasty looking) were relaxing to watch.

only complaint I had was the black chick behind the one counter spent about ten minutes talking to the other guy and giving him beers rather than serving me, it seemed like ANYTING except serving me but once she did she was polite, friendly and helpful. Guy behind the bud counter was also friendly despite being very busy.

Its a good establishment, with a good location, decent prices and good weed but it does have its issues. Planning to go over again to the Dam next year and plan to stop in here again.
Which August was this exactly? We stopped selling beer at the coffee shop with the fish tanks in the Summer of 2007.

Whilst I don't recall us playing techno in the coffee shop in a long long time, a couple of the dealers do enjoy minimal which I guess could be confused as being kind of techno-ish. I personally prefer other styles of music but Spanish and Italian customers generally love the house music which we tend to play on the morning shifts.
My personal groaning starts when that sickly sweet R&B or dreadful west coast hip hop music goes on. But it takes all sorts and we have the job of trying to keep everybody happy.

Anyway thanks for stopping by and I'm glad that you enjoyed your products.

Groetjes!

I'm saying beer cos it looked like a glass bottle, that roamed up.when opened with a bottle opener, could have just as easily been a j20 or juice drink.

I also agree with the music but it didn't cause too much of an issue as more than one visit was made to your place, all at about 8pm plus. I hope to be able to come back next year and the visit was august this year to answer your first question.

was in hunters on sunday night, i found the bud tender to be quite sarcastic and a bit of a prick really, after me letting him do his stocktake for about 5mins in the empty shop he then refused to let me look at any more than 4 buds and told me that i cant look through the whole menu! what kind of service is that? and after i just stood there for 5mins whilst he done his stock take and i dont think its this big spanish guy that people are always talking about. this was a small skinny dutch guy, he has served me loads of times before and not been as rude but this time he pissed me right off.

Hey KS, don't take it personally. You probably just got the Dutch directness.

And to be fair, asking to look at more than 4 buds is (unintentionally on your part I'm sure) taking the piss. But many tourists don't realise it. You will never get a local asking to see more than 4 buds.

I'm not talking about you or your intentions, I don't judge you. But I often see people going into CSs and they want to look at every damn thing on the menu, it's asking too much of people IMO, even if the shop is empty (and these types usually buy nothing too).

The worst is when they do it in front of their "mates" and talk shit and want to smell everything just to keep talking shit and trying to impress their mates.

I can understand if the coffeeshop does shit bud and you want to find the one gem that is strong and looks good among 10 strains but if this is not a problem (like at Hunters) then just check a couple out and choose one. Or ask the dealer for his recommendations based on what you're roughly looking for - he can save you going through the half of the menu that you wouldn't be interested in anyway. Besides, weed might smell great but this is not always a good indicator of taste and especially not the high.

I have seen so many times:
- can I see weed "A"

- sniff

- can I see weed "B"

- sniff

- can I see weed "C"

- sniff

- can I see weed "D"

- sniff

- can I see weed "E"

- sniff

- can I see weed "F"

- sniff

- can I see weed "G"

- sniff

Bye.

yeah mate i understand what you are saying but as i stated before i was happy to wait there for 5mins whilst he done his stock take, and what i should of explained is that i purchased 1 of the said buds (which i give back when he refused to let me look at anymore) and was looking to buy more, meaning i was probably gonna spend 50 euros or more, and i wouldnt ask to look at loads of bud if there was a que forming behind me, i dont think its anything to do with dutch manners, just that the guy chose to be ignorant to me that night,

hehe you should go to Homegrown Fantasy. The huge (overweight) Dutch bird gets really pissed off when people stand at the counter waiting for her to do her stock check.

It's hilarious to see her get so worked up over nothing. :D

Visited Hunter's on Wednesday afternoon. Nice clean shop, found the staff pleasant and professional - certainly didn't experience what some people have claimed on here. Bought a gram of the SSH which I was meant to send home but I have to say I liked it so much I smoked it there and then. At the time seemed like a great idea but now I'm, wishing I sent it home with me

Will definately visit again - not sure how I had never been in the 7 years I've been visiting Amsterdam.
