Weekly train pass.

Post by treetop »

Am staying in Zaandam this April so will be taking the train a lot. Anyone know if there is some kind of weekly savers card for rail travel in the AMS area and even beyond?

How much did you produce?

I don't think there is - an OVH chip card is 7.50 euros - you can charge it up and use it on the train network as well as on trams and buses, but you don't get any discounts unless the card has been registered to you, as I understand it.

In my research for travel in the Netherlands I have come to the conclusion that a chip card is not worth it. You have to buy the card and then load it up with euros at least 20 to use the train, unless you can calculate it out very well on your last train ride to be 19.99 you are still out 7.50 for the card, learn how to use the ticket vending machine and you will be fine.

As suggested above, paper tickets are the way to go. You can buy undated tickets in advance and just validate it before boarding.
