BBC News UK 1st January ( last night ) 10pm.
There was a news story last night on the BBC news at 10, saying basically the coffeeshop ban is back and is actually active.
It said only dutch people can buy cannabis!?
I'm just trying to get some info as I'm planning trip number 15 for Feburary.

Yeah I saw that, didn't listen to the full story, but it involved an interview with the girl from funky monkey, and the guy from birdys. I think it was about usual, how they (government/uptight people) don't want stoners all over their city and want to stop dope tourists vs. the employment and money(tax) that the shops create and the fact they lessen the ammount of street dealing and remove cannabis users from easy contact with hard drugs.
I think the 'you can't smoke cannabis here' element was about signs aimed at telling tourists that they can't smoke dope in that particular area and was illegal to do so. I think the area was a children's play ground!(shouldn't be smoking dope there anyway), (I smoke everywhere in the uk on the street, music venues, sports stadiums, public transport, in my car but never where there might be kids in the vicinity)

someone at my work was telling me about this but im sure if the ban had happened this forum would be full of stories saying so. probably just mis information on bbc's part.. i hopebenstraat wrote:There was a news story last night on the BBC news at 10, saying basically the coffeeshop ban is back and is actually active.

I saw this aswell mate, it was Funky Monkey coffee shop they were filming in. I saw tubs of 'girl scout cookies' and 'killing fields', I hope they still have some next Saturday! I think it was just the usual crap that the BBC churns out on slow days. As far as Im aware there is no weitpass being enforced in the Nederlands apart from 3 areas.

Less sensationalist on Radio 4. Reported the story with the caveat that it was up to individual mayors to enforce it and in Amsterdam it was business as usual.

Yeah. Ive never seen kids at music venues, sports stadiums or public transport, either ! You'll correct me if im wrong but ive been labouring under the impression that smoking anything in any of these places has been unlawful for some years.OffieBoss wrote:(I smoke everywhere in the uk on the street, music venues, sports stadiums, public transport, in my car but never where there might be kids in the vicinity)

Thanks for the support
It ain't happening us locals take no notice and you shouldn't
Bit bad about yoyo, there is a playpark outside to be fair time and place etc.
I see moms with young kids walking pass the girls in de pijp and there doesn't seem an issue, its life get on with it!
Dam seems so safe compared.to all the UK cities I have lived in.

Let me try this.... has any foreigner been denied entry/service in any coffee shop in Amsterdam and Haarlem beginning yesterday, 01 Jan 2013?
Is so, please name the shop so peeps can avoid the annoyance, thanks.
According to my (tourist) source in Amsterdam, as he was sitting in a coffee shop enjoying a cup of coffee and a joint (mixed, bleh..
Now then, CAN WE ALL JUST PLEASE MOVE THE FUCK ON ALREADY? Thank you....
Some seriously need to stop feeding the hype machine as well, FFS get a life already.
Somebody please gimme a NEXT....
...
Edit - the "some" mentioned above was not meant for Nimrod, besides the usage is plural...
