Hi folks

Post by ForDarkseid »

Hi,
Just joined up, from Edinburgh and going for my first visit in 11 years in December, cant fooking wait.

Noticed a few of my old Favs are gone like Baba at the comer of Warmoesstraat and Oudebrugsteeg

Can anyone remember the name of a Coffeeshop on Warmoesstraat , I think it may have had the num 52 in its name. It was a long coffeeshop that went downstairs to big windows that looked over the water and Damrak. a little further down from the greenhouse effect on the opp side?

Thanks yall

Hi & welcome FDs - I too had an 11year gap from ams until I came back in May. A lot has changed for the better and the worse. Great coffeeshops like Homegrown Fantasy have bit the dust - was always my 1st port of call then headed to Funny People for a big dollop of Moroccan hash - it too has gone (different location). Anyway enjoy the forums and have great time in December - all the best and take care - (Desireland - co.Armagh)

Hi and welcome,
Hill Street Blues at number 52 is probably the one, looks like a bar these days I think.
Have a wander by when you get there.
Enjoy your trip.

Okay then,
at number 77 and a bit further on is 'Route 66' - now also a bar.
Cheers,

Probably been there 20 years or so ....... but ..... there was a Hill Street Blues on Nieuwmarkt which became Greenhouse Effect in more recent years.
I think Greenhouse chain and Hill Street are linked.
Not sure though.

AFAIK Greenhouse Effect wasn't a part of the Greenhouse chain, but that might have changed... Do remember Route 66 on Warmoesstraat 10 years or so ago, but never went in as it looked like one of the worst dumps on the street and there were a lot of dump looking places back then on Warmoesstraat, now it is more or less a place without soul compared to back then...

How about Coffeeshop 36? It had a similar layout to HSB and had a number in its name, albeit not 52. It had a huge sign outside.

[Edit] Just noticed that you'd already figured that out  . Actually, I was trying to reply with Coffeeshop 36 here last weekend but I was away from home using a tablet on wi-fi and was getting blocked. Once I got back to my proper PC I forgot until today and by that time you'd found it yourself :D .

You have been posted on the December Whos In Town page.
Scroll down to your month and click it.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop
(your favorite) and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to
show up, if they do you'll have a T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your
favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

Enjoy
