Axeman Trip Report July 7th - July 10th

Post by axeman9 »

Update: Days 3-4 at Bottom of Page.....

Days 1 + 2... Here we go again..... another report. I like doing them, but hate finding the motivation to write em up. I took a few notes while i was there and these are my experiences and findings. This is my 12th trip or so. So here goes.....

After drinking 7 cans of Red Stripe to help me sleep, i went to bed a midnight, lied there like a kid waiting for Santa on Xmas eve still awake at 3.45am so i got up. Got picked up by a mate a 4.45am and boarded the 7am flight. Arrived in Dam 50 minutes later and was sat in a c/shop some 40 minutes later. Buzzin.

First stop was Dampkring II aka Pink Floyd. This place has been totally revamped inside. Gone is the wooden interior and in comes new contemporary style furniture. It took me a while, but after a few minutes i began to love the place. My first purchase was 1g Amnesia Haze at 11euro. Nice smell and a great high. Just what the doctor ordered. I also picked up 1g of Rifman Jala for 8 euros. Nice light brown hash that you can roll it up into worms if you warm it in your hands first. You can smoke tobacco in this c/shop upstairs. There are now three floors!! with the top 2 reserved for tobacco. Dodgy see through toilet though. Not a fan of that.

I then stumbled to the little white hut in front of the Train station to purchase a Srtippenkaart for the trams. The conductor stamps the ticket every time you board a tram, and you get 15 goes for 6.90euros. I head out towards Kinker Straat. about an 8 minute walk from Leidseplein. My apartment was froma guy called Paul and was 60 euros per night. http://apartmentpaul.com/c/ The place was adequate. nothing special and could have done with a lick of paint to be honest. But for the money i cant complain. The linen and towells were clean and the bed was dead comfy. I made a joint or two and unpacked my shit and settled in.

I wanted to get to Grey Area to make a couple of purchases. I bought 1g of Martian Mean Green 13e, and 1g Recon at 11.50 euro. The MMG was no where near as nice as it was in 2006 in my opinion. It smelled different. It looked pretty good though. But the kick was not there when i smoked it. A bit disappointing to be fair. The Recon on the other hand was absolutley superb, caked in crystals with a hell of a smell. I loved it. Pretty strong too. Ricks Cafe was next, i bought no weed but i had a couple of pints outside under the umbrella and beefed up a couple of fatties. It was still raining too. I hears that Bluebird had a tobacco section so i made my way up there. The tobacco area is to the left upstairs where the big red sofa is. They simply put up a glass partition with a door. I picked up 1 bag of LA Confidential . I dont know what real LA Con is like but this stuff was pretty nice. Quite a dirty but fruity kinda smell. A nice strain. I was pretty battered by this point so i decided to pop back to my apartment via Albert Heijn to pick up some groceries, namely cheese, ham, bread, milk eggs Paprika flavour Pom-Bear crisps and donuts.

After a 3 hour snooze i awoke and needed to head out for some enjoyment. I nipped in to Dophins to see what they had to offer. I picked up some "Haze", thats all i was, no other name. They also had a tobacco section downstairs too. I skinned up 3-4 reefers drank a few coffes and smoked a few bongs. I was hammered. i'd been there nearly two hours! sitting and smoking, dunno where the time went. It was 10.30pm and i was getting hungry so i went to the pancake house about a hundred yards behind the Bulldog Palace. Had a banana and chocolate fudge 12 inch pancake for 9 euros i think. I was stuffed.

Tuesday: More fucking rain!!! I got up and walked to the Dampkring where i purchased 1g Love Potion#5 at 8.5e per g and 1g of NYC Diesel at the same place. The Love Potion was a new on to me. Cant remember much about the smell, but it certainly did the trick. It was all gone in one pure hooter. The Diesel is one of the bargain weeds in Amsterdam i reckon, lovely taste and and effects. After my Dampkring experience i headed back to the Grey Area where i was greeted by a new bloke working there. He was cool. Bought 1/2 g Grey Berry for 4.25e and 1g Grey Haze at 11euro. The grey Berry was good value and is and always has been i great indica at a fair price at the GA. The Grey Haze was nice too, with a hint of lemon and that familiar haze flavour. I found a really good sandwich place on Nieuwzijds Vorgurgwal, if you walk from GA over the bridge and down the short street on to the one with the trams on, directly in front of you on a corner, pretty small shop. I munched on a foot long hot Bacon, Salami and Brie baguette with a fresh orange juice, The baguette was just what i needed, Fucking delicious, i must say. I had pretty bad heart-burn at the time though and was in need of a milkshake. Amnesia was shut for refurbishment!! so i went to Hill Street Blues on the market. The shake was around 3.50 euros. I sat outside and enjoyed what little sunshine i had during my trip. Stix Coffeeshop on Korte Konningstraat was my next port of call for some Nepalese Temple Ball. Still one of my all time favourites. Sweet, spicey, gooey and yummy, and all for 12.50 euros. Sat here for a bit as i really like it in here. Got a cappucino and made a nice pure joint with Grey Hze and NTB.. Rookies has a smoking area i heard, so i ventured up there. The right hand side of the shop is the tobacco section. I bought 1g of Hashplant here for 8.50 euro if my memory serves me right. Quite an earthy smell like you'd expect. I sat outside and drankka couple of coffees and smoked the HP. Heavy shit that, put my to sleep nearly. I also got a smoothie, It was massive and a bit too much to drink. Maybe a small one next time.. I spent a couple of hours in Leidseplein drinking a few beers and got chatting to some folk from New Zealand... I was wasted so decided to call it a night....

Wednesday and Thursday to folllow........ im pretty stoned and have sore eyes.. 8)

A fine report from you, but I had a feeling it would be!. Gotta laugh at your mention of the paprika pom-bear crisps. Not had them for many years as I dont like the ready salted ones you get here.

Nice reporting, keep em coming.
That first day must have been a killer, what with the lack of sleep and multiple tinnies :!:

It must have been a killer as re-reading his report there was no mention of having bought beer on his list of shopping in AH, which kind of surprised me!.

Great write up axeman, just what I needed to read a few weeks before I go. You also got me in the mood for a bacon and brie baguette!! I love them over there.

Thanks for taking the time.

Bacon, salami, and brie you say?? In a baguette? :D Got to try that. I'll save up my year's salt allowance for one of those bad boys.

Nice reporting as ever Axe, it is a right effort, but we appreciate it.

Update - Days 3-4

Wednesday: It was raining hard again when i woke at 10am. I was beginning to get a bit sick and tired of the shitty weather if im honest. Now i dont mind a bit if rain but it was hampering my trip big time. I couldnt visit as many shops as i would have liked to. Cos i kept getting soaked.

Mellow Yellow was on the list first thing wednesday, i had to wait till 1pm when the rain eased so i could venture out. Finally it stopped and the sun came out for 5 hours!!. Never been to MY and heard nothing but good things on this forum about that and Noon in the past 3-6 months. I opted for 2g Orange Haze, i was just gonna get the 1g but when i got a whiff of the herb i smiled immensly and said "ooh, ooh ill have 2 actually". I smelled delicioius and tasted just as nice. I sat outside on the little bench with a can of coke and proceeded to smoke the herb. Great start to the day. A junkie and his mate came up to me and asked for a toot on my joint cos "thats how we do things here in Amsterdam", i replied "no it isnt now piss off". I didnt let it bother me.

I floated down to Stix c/shop on Utrechtstraat next, where I picked up 1g of Alegria. Dunno if it was meant to taste like flowers, but it did. The high was ok but nothing special. The taste put me off, kind of like Lavender, not the weed but the flower. :? . Rokerij III was on the way to the RLD so i just got 1/2 g of sour Diesel at 4.50 e per g. The smell of the diesel is classic, really good. I didnt stay here, and walked down to Ricks in the RLD for Happy Hour 4pm -6pm every day 2.50 per pint. There were some English lads there who had the same idea as myself - Ricks cafe every day at 4.05pm for cheap beer! Yay! . It was beginning to cloud over a bit and i sensed rain..... I wanted to smoke some reefers with baccy so i went to Pink Floyds via New York Pizza Slice for a errr.... slice of pizza believe it or not

Floyds was becoming my favourote stop of the trip. Five Reasons - 1: Very nice weed and hash. 2: Very nicely decorated throughout. 3: You can smoke tobacco. 4: Good Tea selection and coffee and toasties 5: A really tasty girl works there sometimes  I had a look at some of the weed and Rifman Hash. I decided on 1g John Sinclair at 10e per g. First time ive had the JS, what a delightful smoke, very tasty weed indeed, and i love the high you got from it. Great smoke. I also got 1g Rifman Shabrika (sp). for 14 e per g i think. I'd already smoked the JS and needed some of my favourite weed of all time - Super Silver Haze!! 8) The Daddy of all weeds in my opinion. After the couple of beers at Ricks my head started to spin out a bit when i started on the SSH at Floyds. Aaargh! I rode it out tho and was fine within 15 minutes.

I was bushed so i took the tram back past Leidseplein for some early evening snoozing. Got up at 8pm and polished of an apple slice i bought from Albert Heijn on the way. It was raining again. I went to Noon to pick up 1/2 g of Trainwreck for 12e per g. Nice buzz, tasty, smelly, lovely. Enough said.

Back to Leidseplein for a Pizza down near Rookies. Tip: always go to a busy restaurant, its usually a good sign. Had a Pepporoni and Pepper one for 8.5 euros. As i was in the area i went o rookies wher ei bought 1/2g Rookies special. Again a fine smoke. I think it had some bubblegum crossed with something else... Then i went home to bed..

Thursday: MORE RAIN!! I checked out of my apartment at 12 noon and got my 100euro deposit back and went straight to Dolphins to buy some gear and a coffee. 1g of White Dolphin was the first order of the day, i satt downsatirs and got chatting to some scousers and smoked my gram. Then bought another gram and smoked that too. The rain was relentless. Every time i looked outside it was raining. I was in Dolphins for 1 and 1/2 hours 8) . I took the short walk to the Dampkring where i sat for the next 3 and 1/2 hours, yes 3 1/2 hours! I decided to buy 1/2 grams of as much as i could and make little pure reefers with each half gram. I managed to sample the following whilst in there that rain-sodden afternoon...... Mexican Haze, Ocean Twelves Haze, Mako Haze, John Sinclair, Alegria, Love Potion#5 and finally Rifman Jala, All of em superb, The Mexican was brownish and had a weird smell but packed a good punch.

Summary: Bit of a different trip in many respects, especially due to the shittest weather ever. And the fact that i prefer to smoke joints with tobacco in kind of limited me a little bit. But i still had a great time :D 8)

Favourite Weeds: Orange Haze - Mellow Yellow/Noon
John Sinclair - Dampkring I & II
Recon - Grey Area

Favourite Shops: Dampkring II aka Pink Floyds
Dolphins - Comfiest seats
Ricks - Happy Hour beer 4pm-6pm

Train Station - Airport - Reefer - Coffee- Reefer - Flight - Home!!

No customs on the way home either.. Typical

Cheers for the comments so far....

Cheers,
