The owner of DeKuil is not like minded.
I don't post that much and when I do, it is always serious and accurate. I only reported what I witnessed. Many Amsterdam shops are in the cannabis business for the cannabis consumer. They support the cause and make an effort to bring our beloved plant into a good light. They care about their customers and understand how cannabis brings people together. I never like to see the cannabis community devided, but sometimes it happens. This guy started out as a Pub and added cannabis later. When the choice between the two had to made he took the most profitable of course. He chose a catchy name to reel you in. I only offer information. He pissed me off eoungh to make the post. He does not deserve your business in my opinion.
Our cannabis community here is smaller then you think. I am not the only one that feels this way. He has alienated many here.

Yeah i was wondering when he changed to 420 cos up to 5/6 years ago it was Cafe FZ and they played Zappa continuously,thats what first attracted me to the place...So is it just cos of the name of the place that we go there...not cos of the wares and the ambience ?...

This is a tradition that we ACD'ers started 4 fours years, to meet people from this forum, put a face to the name and smoke a few bowls. Dekuil's was the natural place to meet....date, time, etc....so that's where it's started and it's continued for the last 3 years. It's has nothing to do with the owner, it's just a place to meet fellow ACD'ers every year on the same given date, place, and time. Why mess with the tradition. Smoke a few bowls on 4:20 with fellow ACD'ers then stay or move on. We do.

Thats is AzLaker, well put mate, this is my first 420 meet and I want to do it the traditional way ... i think the post by MileHigh was very much ill-timed and could put a small downer on a few people coming as a couple people have gone with the hype and said they wont be attending De Kuil (why on earth not man). I will be in De Kuil, and will never stop visiting until the weed is shit or the staff are shit... and they are very much the opposite!!!

You dont know everything involved behind this. Yes I have met milehigh and I liked him. I wonder if there is another side to this story. IM not going to town for some "cause". IM going to town to have fun and if that means meeting the people I have met up with before at the 420, thats where it will be.
I think it's been established that the 420 meet will still be at 420, I also think it might be time to put all this to bed until after the meet up, no point in going round & round in circles, those that want to be there will be and those that dont wont which is fair enough as well, I really hope that I get a chance to meet as many people as possible and have a smoke with them as well.

For me, it's not about want and dont want to be there. It's a matter of principles. As the saying goes "If you dont stand for something, you'll fall for anything". I cannot in my right conscience walk in de Kuil knowing what I now know. That's just me. I wish all those going to the 420 meetup, a stoned-out-of-your head terrific time! May the green be with you. Yes, but we’re not going to party with him. Whilst I’m sure you’re intentions are good, just think about what you’ve achieved. Just how much pain do you think Mr Veling is going to feel if we don’t turn up? How much does he need his shop full of stoned people getting in the way of the stream of paying customers at the weed counter? On the other hand, how much pain are we going to feel? Whatever we do now we can’t get everyone together in one place. If we go somewhere else then many people will still turn up at de Kuil and wonder where the hell we are and if we go to de Kuil then some people will refuse to join us and the atmosphere won’t be as good as it would have been. So, I would say, this little protest will go completely unnoticed by Veling but has screwed up the weekend that many have been planning for months and many are travelling a long way for. A case of cutting off your nose to spite your face or something like that.
Do understand I was sharing my opinion. I am sorry about the bad timing and I certainly encourage everyone to stick to the plan. Just go with some new info in mind is all.
