Eindhoven and Maastricht in one day
Eindhoven and Maastricht in one day
I am traveling through these cities within a week or so and would like to know what flavors and prices to expect. The last time (five weeks ago) I was in these cities, Amnesia was the overall typical flavor averaging Euro 12 per gram. Other varieties that I sampled were some White's, some mystery haze simply labeled Haze, and some excellent Super Silver Haze (only one shop was carrying at the time, New Wave in Eindhoven).
Any recent info would be highly appreciated.
Thnx

My pleasure Isahdjf.
It's becoming apparent to me that this site and these forums are mainly geared towards Amsterdam, though shops throughout The Netherlands are mentioned, occasionally. I suppose searching for another site is an option, where people provide information for all of The Netherlands and not primarily Amsterdam.
Any suggestions?

The Coffeeshop Menus pages covers a few other cities. If you have a camera with you, I'll post any menus you get.
The etiquette of taking pictures in coffeeshops.
Especially menus.
*************** ALWAYS ASK FIRST **************
Most shops will let you take pix to your hearts content, a few don't
even care about videos.
ALWAYS ask first. It's always at the option of the bud tender, so if
one won't let you, go back on another shift and that one might let you.
Be persistent, it will pay off.
Generally, try to keep people out of the background. Some folks don't
want it known that they frequent Amsterdam coffeeshops, I do and I'm
proud but I'm not everybody. Menu pix are short range and don't have
much if any background.
Almost as an afterthought but of primary importance.
Remember, really stoned people don't like flashes of bright light
and most of the folks there are pretty stoned.
Don't use your flash if at all possible. Most digital cameras
will work in pretty low light and software can lighten it up later.
Often the bud tender will move a menu to better light or let you
take it to better light, say to a window with light streaming in.
Enjoy

Re: Eindhoven and Maastricht in one day
I'm visiting Eindhoven regulary. Have been there recently in July so I would suggest you to go to the Eurogarden if you're looking for good Super Silver Haze(8€ for 0,7g - they also carry Amnesia Haze at 8,5€ for 0,7g ). The Indian is also selling one for 12€ a gram(beside this they offer Amnesia Haze(11,5€)and sometimes one in-house-haze at 11€)).Dirty Uncle Ron wrote:I am traveling through these cities within a week or so and would like to know what flavors and prices to expect. Those samples I know from personal experiencies.
Other options I know about but haven't tested yet: coffeeshop Upstairs is selling it for 12€.
The Wall is selling it for 10€(Note: when I was there in July and they also sold Amnesia for 9€. So don't know if they're only playing the name-game or whatever. However, their Brilliant Haze(12€)and Diamond Haze(11€, wasn't on the menu last time)is pretty nice. Go for their hash if you got the opportunity, awesome
It's still on the menu at New Wave.
All in all: don't expect to pay more than 12€ a gram in Eindhoven. Luckywise.
Additionally you can have a look at the High Times coffeeshop. On their menu you can choose between Amnesia(11,5€)and one unnamed haze(12€). Last one I already tried and was very satisfied.
All shops are listed on this site
Thanks Jesscass for the information.
Shops recently visited (Euro per gram) .

New Wave Super Silver Haze 11.00 Excellent gear/price
High Times "unnamed" Haze 10.50
Meet Point Amnesia 9.70
Grasshopper White Widow 7.00 Excellent price
Amnesia 12.00
Eurogarden Amnesia 12.15
Maastricht - May 2009
Kosbor Cheese 11.50
Lucky Time Amnesia 12.50
Cool Running Buddah Cheese 14.00 Severely Overpriced
Maxcy's Super Jack 12.50
Smokey Boot Amnesia 13.00 Overpriced
Mississippi Boot Buddah Cheese 12.00
Club 69 Crystal Skunk 9.00 All shake, Overpriced
Slow Motion Amnesia 13.50 Severely Overpriced
TH69 Haze 2 12.00
Easy Going Power Haze 13.00 Overpriced
I started writing a journal noting the shops, flavors, prices and my opinion (as partially depicted above). My journal has provided me with statistical and analytical information regarding prices. Particularly interesting is how dramatic prices have increased in the past few years, not to mention the difference in price between border and non-border shops. Time to free the weed!!!
Peace

hi guys
Dirty Uncle Ron, try and get Jack Haze from Slow Motion recommended on here by shady from Germany and a great smoke. Maastricht is so ace.
heading to eindhoven soon too, to catch the footie so interesting reading on here. Be interested to hear your recommendations. Do you know how much is the train fair between the two?

Mr Easy,
Check out the link below, it's for the Dutch Rail System.
http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers
According to the site, the cost between Eindhoven and Maastricht is between 16 and 27 Euro, return trip second class.
In January of this year, I tried Jack Haze and not only was it good, but at 8.50 Euro per gram, an awesome deal as well. My last visit to the Slow Motion was in May and I tried their version of Amnesia but I wasn't impressed, mainly because of the 13.50 Euro per gram price.
Shops are asking a little to much for Amnesia IMHO. In the past three months, I have tried Amnesia priced from 9.70 (Meet Point - Eindhoven) to 13.50, as mentioned above, and to be blunt (no pun intended), I couldn't tell any difference in quality, just price.
Peace

If its not listed then Post a thread and and answers will flow.
Just Add reviews for other Citys CS, the listings of CS are there waiting for reviews.
Thanks for your informations, DirtyUncleRon. Now I know the background of your reviews on the main section of this siteDirty Uncle Ron wrote:

I can hear you. This border-thing is one reason for the increasing of the last years. An other one is that hunting growers became seriously popular during that time. Greed is another one for sure
Especially Maastricht - have been there regulary some years ago - is a hell of a lot more touristy than Eindhoven. On the other side Maastricht is more beautiful beside the coffeeshop scene. But the prices are terrible, I saw weed for 15€ a gram even in 2007 - crazy!
I would suggest you to stay away from the Mississippi-boat there because it's a tourist trap. In my experience the places to go are Kosbor and Easy Going. But this maybe has changed in the meantime?! Slow Motion was one of my favourites, too(I know about it's touristic tendency and sometimes overpriced goods but somehow I like this little dirty hole.) By the way: their Jack Haze has nothing to do with the version of Easy Going's - another example for the name-game.
Would like to read about your trip to both cities here. Have a nice time
Your welcome Jesscass.
I have been to the Mississippi quite a few times, never had any problems. I must admit that I have never been during peak times, so I am unable to offer a complete opinion on the shop. The gear is descent albeit overpriced. Same applies to it's clone, the Smokey Boot.
I am a buy and leave type, not one to stay around and experience the vibe. If it's my first time in a particular shop, I will hang for a while, see whats what. Rarely will I return to a shop and chill, not my scene. Call me a hypocrite, but I don't dig the touristy vibe that most shops exude. I much prefer a Mom and Pop type of place: no hype, no over-the-top prices; all chill. I am not sure if such a place exists, except maybe in ones own home or some fantasy.
Peace

No, I see your point here. In my opinion there are not many shops providing a nice atmosphere and good gear. I often miss one side of it.Dirty Uncle Ron wrote: I am a buy and leave type, not one to stay around and experience the vibe. Personally I'm hanging arround at coffeeshops for a while each visit though
Like you're saying here, too good to be true. Still searching for it, too. So keep us informed if you find a place like thatDirty Uncle Ron wrote:I much prefer a Mom and Pop type of place: no hype, no over-the-top prices; all chill. Looking forward to your report.
