theres a certain model of haiko soldering iron that has a removable metal tip that exposes the ceramic heating element. pretty much the same deal as the phedor and only like $40 or $50. only drawback is its a bit bulky. still portable though for traveling and such.
i made one...sucks and dangerous...phedors nice..stick with the proof homemade electic lighters and water bongs dont mix ///also i have a case of those irons...i made vaporizer for my frinds with em a few years backs...some of em still work...but holy 3rd degree burn batman
tons of folks on toke city use them with no reported problems as far as i know. im sure the phedor is easier to use and slightly less dangerous..but is also $120-$150. was just giving a less expensive option. any sort of uncovered ceramic heating element is dangerous if used the wrong way imo.
educating myself and waiting for the next trip.
