parking

Post by Simon »

when i go to dam next time ill stay 6 days... i am going by car, so ill have to pay for parking... i could park it at free parking lots, at the station diemen-zuid f.e., but i dont want to get my radio stolen, so i will drive to the olympisch stadion P+R (park and ride)...

there you can get the parking plus a tram ticket to the city and back for 6 € a day for up to 4 days. unfortuanetly ill have to check out with my car, and check back in at f.e. at the station sloterdijk P+R, because i wont get the discount for the whole 6 days, and i dont want to pay the normal 14€ per day or so....
any of you have some suggestions?

It's free over the North side but I cant comment on how safe it would be there.

thats the point, i dont want to park on the streets, even though you can print a "car is empty" sheet from amsterdam.info and put it in the window, i dont think a thieve will "read" the car before opening it...

i should have huge stickers saying "my radio is broken" or something...

i know some P+R places (like sloterdijk, olympic stadium, ajax arena transferium etc.) wich all have the same rate (6€ per day), but only for 4 days max i think, and i wouldnt want to drive while im on a 6 days holiday in amsterdam... thats my only problem :D

simple, stay somewhere else like zandvoort (1/2 Hrs by train to amsterdam centraal) and use the excellent public transport.

Fair enough, yes I like it there especially watching the sunset on Zandvoort beach.
For parking in Amsterdam there is a map on this page..

Cool, thanks for the P+R tip, didn't know about them. And yes 45 euros a day is very expensive.

i stayed 6 days, so i had to drive out and in again once so i get the P+R price on all 6 days... if you plan to stay longer than 4 days there, you should try to get your new ticket on a weekday, because they only have 250 P+R spaces. its a bit tricky, but this way you can park your car as long as you want for 6 euro a day

There are multiple P+R parking places, they cost 6 euros per 24 hours.
In the center of Amsterdam (including parking garages) it's extremely expensive. (3 to 5 euros per HOUR)

thats what i do, or i park at the ajaz stadium for the 4days & then move it to the olympic stadium, as long as i dont forget to stamp my p+r travel ticket(which i did once &had to go to cs & use one of the yellow boxes, luckily the p+r attendant didnt look at the dates  ) which makes the p+r offer void & you have to pay full amount
