Newbie on a short vist

Post by mini-me »

Hi All,
I will be stopping by Amsterdam on Sept 4th. I would consider myself a novice with pot (damn you Nancy Reagan!!) but would like to give some coffeeshops a go. Would anyone be able to suggest a location with a laid-back atmosphere, friendly to newbies and perhaps a good choice to start with?

Last time I stopped by AMS and toured the red light district the coffeeshops I saw were packed and seemed quite intimidating to a non-expert.

Thanks for any advice!

I would suggest a wander down Haarlemmerstraat, you have shops like Dampkring II, Popeyes, Barneys, Picasso, ect... All good shops in their own ways yet not quite as crowded as the ones in the Red Light District.
You can not
overdose on THC...

I've tried...

Hiya Mini-Me
well 420 Cafe (de Kuil) was very chilled coffee shop we sat at the back and will be using it as our main base camp next trip ideally you dont want anything packed full of people. the old church is another relaxed coffee shop not the best drugs but great views

Hello Denomolous and stuart1976,

I thank you both for your replies. At least now I have a few known destinations to try out. Any advice one ordering? I have read in other posts that ~12 euro price range is a good start?

Thanks again!

Hi and welcome,
Dampkring II although can get busy, Paradox is a nice quiet CS with good gear and food (5euro deals), La Tertulia again quiet shop nice location and good toasties (5euro Deals), Barneys Lounge is the best of this chain of shops (IMO), Mellow yellow is again a good shop which is normally quiet, and of course there is HGF just for there Cheese.

These CS are all user friendly and i doubt you will find the same Atmosphere as in RLD coffee shops.

Have a good trip, and out of interest what time do you arrive on the 4th? Its my last day in town so if you want to meet up for a spliff or two let me know.

i would also recommend heading down towards haarlemerstraat and checking out either barneys or drampkring. both are nicely decorated and have a cool feel to them. both would be friendly to newbies and helpful with selecting a strain to smoke. the budtender will let you know what is good right now and will recommend something for your situation. start with something light and not to heavy of a stone.

and yes these shops will be much different then the ones in the RLD.
