The mental image of another forum member

Post by Rez »

It's funny that just from written conversation, possibly with some description thrown in along the way, that you tend to have a mental image of another forum member.

For example, Boner, I just think of Boner as Silent Bob, I know its just the avatar but that's the mental image I have of him. (hope you dont mind being the EG mate)

Is everybody else the same or is it just me....?

It's like Radio DJ's, they never look like the person you had imagined them to be and you cant actually believe that the voice you know and the person that you thought the owner of that voice are the same person.

whooooohh  I've been reading that last paragraph over and over and I just cant make sense of it. I thought i'de leave it in (for a laugh)... you might even know what I mean

That's pretty funny. I picture Boner as Silent Bob as well. I realize he probably looks nothing like him in real life and all, but I am so used to seeing that headbanging SB avatar next to his name that they have become one and the same to me.

Good point Boner... I have used Rezin_8_ed on various sites as my nickname, I think, like most nicknames, it speaks for itself... only if you are aware of Resin though - and I'm not talking fibreglass or glue! ...

But, there are some on here that induce an element of curiosity.

How did you all choose your nickname and does it have an underlying meaning ?

Rez

PS: I once signed up for an online cards game using the nickname: Nickname  .... and another on a site that took forever to accept my registration as: Trouble_Signing_In  (I won't mention which site it was but, the MSN version was much better than the Yahoo!)

Resinated = To impregnate, permeate, or flavor with resin... Whats your flavour !!

Stygian means dark, gloomy, hellish. It's derived from the river Styx. 23 is my favorite number. I see it (or versions of it) everywhere.

Doesn't tell you much, does it? Snicker. About the only thing the observant can deduct (from the Trinacria in my avatar) is that I am Sicilian (or rather of Sicilian descent).

Mine is pretty simple really. The first, Az, is short for Arizona, which is where I reside. The 2nd, Laker, is a Basketball team from Los Angeles, Calif. where I grew up and followed since the 60's. I'm a Diehard Fan AzLaker 8)

My original name on this site was Xefian . Which whilst playing a Sega Genesis game with my then 10 year old nephew ,I made up as he insisted my character needed a name -I think the Genesis was called Megadrive in UK ...then last year de vrouw googled the word and got a bunch of references to the Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory and suggested I change it , as I use that handle in other ways ,including my e mail when I write to my Senator.(nothing like good ole American paranoia Eh ? )...which Lemming was kind enough to do for me....so its now Epsilon . Which was my favorite D & D character ,a 15th level thief ,who's now retired on some ship he stole ....
