Lack of Consistency! Current Batch updates Required

Post by HARRYO »

Not long to go till I am in dam (6 days left!)! Have a question for anyone who is currently there or have visited recently….

I want to buy the following strains but from my experience different batches of the SAME strain usually end up being of different quality.. Basically, something great one week isn’t so great the next.

As mentioned in an earlier post, I will be purchasing 5g+ of each strain and won’t have time to test each one before the large purchase. So u see my predicament! It’s a lot of money 2 be wasting on mediocre buds.

I need to know if the following are currently top notch, meaning have they recently been CONSISTENTLY of good quality, as my usual strains (at the usual coffeshops) are sometimes great and other times not so good, i.e. bad curing, inadequate flushing, etc

Any reports on the current batches of the below strains would not go unappreciated….

Homegrown Fantasy
-Cheese
-OG Kush x Haze/ Or whatever is now on top of menu

Blue Bird
-So Gouda
-G13 Hashplant

Mellow Yellow
-Bubblegum haze (if it’s there for a change!)
-Blubbery (possible purchase for budget strain, but general quality not so good)

Katsu
-Black Widow
-Clear Crystal Iso

Barneys
-G13
-Red Dragon (haven’t seen/ tasted it yet but hoping it’s good?!)

Damkring
-G13 Amnesia Haze
-G13 Hashplant

Grey area
-What ever is currently good…any suggestions? (MMG, Silver Bub, etc? whatever is currently the best?)

Green Place
-Chocolope
- AK47 (As advised by everyone to be the best ‘best budget stain’)

Soft Lands
- White Smurf (Again, I was looking for a budget but a quality strain and I was advised on this)

Really need to know if the current batches of the above are any good.

Would be grateful for your thoughts

Cheers guys, will get some bud snaps up once home.

Hey man happy toking ! i suppose its not current i was in Dam 27jun-01jul , the cheese from HGF was the bomb and is usually consistent from there , So Gouda from Bluebird to be honest i wasnt a big fan  i dont know if i got a bad bit ? but it seemed stringy and not very nice imo ! i got the Red Dragon but tbh it was near the end of the trip and all strains seemed to be merging ! :?

Last visit was june this year which was the 3rd trip of this year, i normally clock up 5 a year so i would say yes some are always good.

Homegrown Fantasy
-Cheese
Never had a bad batch of this to date although i have had a couple of bad batches of other strains they sometimes stock.

Blue Bird
-G13 Hashplant
very Bad batch in feb so i have not purchased it again, CS Crush had the best version of this i have tried.

Mellow Yellow
Blueberry (possible purchase for budget strain, but general quality not so good) never had any problems with this strain from here at all.

Katsu
-Black Widow
-Clear Crystal Iso
Both always top notch ALWAYS IMO

Barneys
-G13
Can be iffy but mostly good

Damkring
Had neither of these but best bud i had from here was the AMNESIA SKUNK in Feb, in April it was not good but Junes was back to usual standard.

Grey area
Chiesel was excellent in June and top of the pops with my crew that trip and normally good bud. LA Con was a con though

Green Place
-Chocolope (Never had a problem with)
- AK47 (Purchased once never again, totally crap needs to be sent to the bulldog)

Soft Lands
- White Smurf (Again, I was looking for a budget but a quality strain and I was advised on this)
Finally got to try this during 420s trip and it was excellent, they have never had it in stock during the last 2 years when i have been there so it was great to finally try. WARNING if they dont have it they will palm you off with white widow which is no where near as nice.

Although not current its as good as i can do, alot of these strains i grab every trip so i thought i would give my input. You will also find different people will have different opinions which is always good IMO.

Enjoy 8)

Homegrown Fantasy
-Cheese - Very very nice smelly and tasty and potent!
-OG Kush x Haze - Not overly impressed with this, nice but better to be had elsewhere.

Blue Bird
-So Gouda
-G13 Hashplant
Unfortunately didn't make it to Bluebird, but the SoGouda at Hunters was very very nice, around the 10e mark i think.

Mellow Yellow
-Bubblegum haze - No sign a few days ago
-Blubbery - A good bargain but it is a little 'off' at the minute. Certainly not the best bluberry.
The Sleaze stick from here was nice crystally and powerful. Not sure on the genetics around 12 a g i believe.

Katsu
-Black Widow - Very nice smoke, although wasn't as impressed as some people have been.
-Clear Crystal Iso - Didn't try it, but worth a go from what i've heard.

Barneys
-G13
-Red Dragon (haven’t seen/ tasted it yet but hoping it’s good?!)
Strangely didn't make it to Barneys this time didn't feel the need.

Damkring
-G13 Amnesia Haze
-G13 Hashplant
I didn't try these strains but the Black Widow Haze is currently top of the menu and was very nice. The indicas around the 6 - 8 euro mark i tried were all top notch and great value for money (White Russian, White Choco, Laughing Buddha and the amnesia skunk and cheese skunk were very goood)

Grey area
-What ever is currently good…any suggestions? (MMG, Silver Bub, etc? whatever is currently the best?)
LA Woman was nice, MMG x La Conf and the batch of Silver bubble at the mo reminded me of went it first went on the menu, probably the best looking bud of the trip and very strong.

Green Place
-Chocolope
- AK47 (As advised by everyone to be the best ‘best budget stain’)
Only tried the Purple Kush and OG Kush this trip which were both very nice, the AK was a staple smoke when I lived over there and is normally consistently good.

Soft Lands
- White Smurf (Again, I was looking for a budget but a quality strain and I was advised on this)
Didn't visit.

Katsu
-Black Widow- Erg, see my posts on Katsu in Coffeeshop Reviews

Green Place
- AK47- Ok, pretty standard. I would get the Blueberry for budget-ness
:)

Homegrown Fantasy
-Cheese - Their best strain IMO, never steered me wrong

Mellow Yellow
-Blubbery - A great budget smoke

Green Place
-Didn't try Chocolope or AK47
- OG Kush - The best indica of my last trip

I didn't visit the other shops, hopes this helps. The Chocolope 10E and AK47 8E from Rusland were good smokes.

Peace,
Balou

nice idea! That´s the problem... if you buy a weed one time and the same weed in the same coffeeshop next time you are in Dam it has a different quality. For example the Royal Jelly Hash from Barney´s was everytime I was there complete differnt hash... One time it was really super stuff (ultra oily black hash top quality )... next time very good but not worth the expansive Price (oily nearly black hash) the last time it was nearly hard pressed and looked not like the other "Jelly´s" and was crap for that money
Same with weed but that´s mother nature sometimes the harvest is very nice and sometimes not so good (or the grower had made a fault^^).

Blue Bird
-So Gouda <--- great strain, nice smell, heavy compact buds and heavy stone. liked the blue cheese a tiny bit better due to the taste. they where about the same stone. @ so gouda u get 0,1g more and the blue cheese has a better taste. so whatevery you like...
-G13 Hashplant <.- missed that one unfortunately
Mellow Yellow
-Bubblegum haze (if it’s there for a change!)
-Blubbery (possible purchase for budget strain, but general quality not so good) <-- cheap smoke, ok stone, taste is not so good and smell neither. katsus bb cheese and bluebirds blue cheese hat more of that blueberry smell and tast

Katsu
-Black Widow <-- when I had it, it was a brilliant stoner. ok taste and nice stone. really hit me!
-Clear Crystal Iso

Barneys
-G13
-Red Dragon (haven’t seen/ tasted it yet but hoping it’s good?!)

Damkring
-G13 Amnesia Haze <-- did get the regular g13 haze but it was fantastic. great taste and high. one of my fav smokes!
-G13 Hashplant

Grey area
-What ever is currently good…any suggestions? (MMG, Silver Bub, etc? whatever is currently the best?) <-- la con was superb but available in nearly equal quality for less mony elsewhere. wobbler was lovely but is off the menu. sleestack is their most expensive strain and I did not like it. creepy and paranoid high somehow. chiesel was fantastic as somebody mentioned earlier. chocolope is sweet also, but at the rookerij you get it for only 9 euros....
my friends got yellow cab there. quite cheap(about 8) and nice stoney high.

I somehow miss basjoes at your list. maybe one of the best shops right now. anything me or friends got there was great smoke. (cheese, terminator, manali, heaven haze, amnesia haze, jack herer, NL)
if you have a little money to waste(well not really) get some of the quaze. prices from 15-17 € a gram although it is all the same. got mine at bluebird which is about the cheapest!
for a budget sativa the chocolope is really fine at 9€

another great strain

Prestoned, balou, Marok & baked, thanks guys!

Marok, I had that same experience. On 8 -10 trips i bought the Jelly hash from Bush doc and it was the best sh*t I had ever smoked! But as soon as all the ‘melts’ came on the menu the jelly quality dropped significantly. On my last trip which was in May I returned home and rolled a jelly with some chocolope and I couldn’t finish the joint, it tasted so bad. The jelly had ruined it!

Baked, the bluberry @ mellow yellow hasn’t been any good for years. But I hope every time! Regarding So gouda VS blue cheese (both @blue bird), in my experience the blue cheese is always a touch to dry. But will give it ago.

Basjoes is one coffeshop I have not yet visited, bit surprising even to me but may have to visit it after all the great reviews.

Will give the BBC a try @ Katsu. Usually I just get the BW and Clear crystal.

the sphaze haze might be worth a look aswell :)
btw, if you are planning on getting bigger amounts, why dont you go to haarlem? might be a bit cheaper in the end which gives more money to play

HarryO - definitely a good post! Man, 6 days - I'm jealous!! Ok, let me toss my 2 cents into the pot:

Homegrown Fantasy
-Cheese
-OG Kush x Haze/ Or whatever is now on top of menu
MAN, I THINK I MAY HAVE GONE IN HERE ONCE AND FOR SOME REASON I HAVE LITTLE OR NO MEMORY OF THE PLACE OR THE BUD HERE. I'LL HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT!

Blue Bird
-So Gouda
-G13 Hashplant
ANOTHER "NO COMMENT" - I HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE BLUEBIRD SINCE THEY GOT RID OF THEIR ATLAS MENU (AND BEGUN SMOKING ALOT LESS BLACK HASJ)

Mellow Yellow
-Bubblegum haze (if it’s there for a change!)
-Blubbery (possible purchase for budget strain, but general quality not so good)
NOW YOU'RE TALKING! HAVEN'T TRIED THE BUBBLEGUM HAZE BUT SOUNDS SIIIIICK!!! I'D LOOK AT IT AND JUDGE FROM THAT.

Katsu
-Black Widow
-Clear Crystal Iso
I'VE NEVER BOUGHT BUD HERE, ONLY HASJ BUT HAVE HEARD NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE BLACK WIDOW

Barneys
-G13
-Red Dragon (haven’t seen/ tasted it yet but hoping it’s good?!)
LOVED THE GRINSPOON, SINCLAIR, ETC. BUT THE PRICE WILL BREAK YA!

Damkring
-G13 Amnesia Haze
-G13 Hashplant
CAN'T GO WRONG AT THE DAMKRING

Grey area
-What ever is currently good…any suggestions? (MMG, Silver Bub, etc? whatever is currently the best?)
HARD TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE BUD AT GREY AREA - THE HOURS/CROWD IS ANOTHER STORY!

Green Place
-Chocolope
- AK47 (As advised by everyone to be the best ‘best budget stain’)
BINGO! GET THE CHOCOLOPE AND YEAH, GET THE AK47 HERE TOO. FOR ME, BEST BUD IN TOWN!

Soft Lands
- White Smurf (Again, I was looking for a budget but a quality strain and I was advised on this)
TAKE A LOOK AT IT FIRST - I LOVE SOFTLAND BUT THEY CAN BE "SKETCHY" AT TIMES BUT THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF GOOD EGGS (AS MY DAD WOULD SAY)

Hope that helps! Happy hunting HarryO!!
its bouquet sweet & pungent, its bite will roast

I was there last week and this was superb, also the Amnesia from Picassos (12.50/G) was up there with it, I was impressed with the consistency at Picassos as the Amnesia was great in April too.
