Jobs in Amsterdam

Post by mjr1990 »

I was wondering if I want to work and live in Amsterdam, what would be the best way to start?

Does anyone know where the cheapest apartments are and does anyone know if there are any jobs going?

Any help would be great, it's just I'm having no luck with the jobs over here in England and would like to try working in a diffrent enviroment, for a while and see how it goes.

Accomodation in Amsterdam is very expensive as is i would imagine the cost of living. You would be better looking on at least the outskirts or neighbouring towns.
You would need a hell of a lot of cash to just up sticks and go get an apartment and then finding a job aint easy. Some recruitment agencies will provide accomodation which is a bonus.

It also depends how much shit your willling to put up with. I worked for a company called flexcargo, based in beverwjik working at schihpol airport. They provided accomodation although this was in a shared house and at one point there were about 15 people in our house, some people sharing rooms with 2 or 3 random people. The work was shit, the shifts were given to you by text a couple of hours before you had to start and you were generally treated like shit by the company. BUT I had a lot of good good times over there and met a lot of great people and Holland is an amazing country, depends how much shit you can put up with but they are often recruting on gumtree.
