Strain of the moment in Amsterdam

Post by RonZen »

Since there's always so many threads coming and going with folk querying "what's the best thing on right now?" & "where can good gear be found?", I thought maybe we could establish a one-stop thread for people to drop in their current top experiences.

If it works, super, we could sticky it. It would be useful for people just before & during their visits and probably even the history might prove *interesting* in the long run... If not, another dead thread & no harm done.

So, what's great right now, why do you think so, and where did you score it?

I always thought Martians would be rather short not very tall. 8)

One person's strain of the moment is another persons ditch weed if you ask me.

Certainly very difficult to answer such questions but I'll to venture that the flavours of Amsterdam that people seem to universally appreciate and return to are Super Silver Haze and Amnesia Haze.

Perhaps as choices go a little boring and unadventurous but I think i'll stand by it as my answer to your question. Of course its all batch dependant it seems however.

Why not try find the Strain of the Moment yourself? Many many people seem to want to be spoon fed information, I prefer to read between the lines of travelouges and strain reviews and try and find what I like all by myself. 8)

Yes I agree, along with SSH and Amnesia Haze, lots of people love the Kushes and of course Cheese. HGF's version seems to get the most consistent thumbs up.

I agree with colinzeal. SSH and Amnesia haze are very popular. They are great to smoke while walking through the city. In Holland White Widow is the most popular (more stoney) smoke.

I agree with that, and in fact travelogues are the best source here for that kind of info in my opinion. Before I head to Amsterdam I read all of the recent ones!

That said, not everyone wants to read a batch of travelogues, and I understand that. More to the point not everyone who visits and smokes up will take the time to write up a whole travelogue or even a few 'shop reviews.

Yup. If this idea has any legs (& I acknowledge it might not) it'll be as an "I was there yesterday or last last week and loved XX at YY shop, because it was ZZ tits!" type of thing. Which, to be honest, is something people show up asking for on a routine basis.

I suppose my point Ronzen is that people should read the information available rather than just come on and ask such questions off the bat (often as first or second post).

Is that not what the internet is really all about; a searchable database of knowledge rather than somewhere to just lazily ask questions?

My point is the information is really all there plus the question 'what is the best' is not a particularly answerable one.
Dont get me wrong I dont wish to denigrate your effort (which is why I attempted an answer) but I do think that in general people should do the research themselves rather than be spoon fed.

I think that if you cant see that the information is already there, and use the search engine but just ask questions that have already been answered many times over then you dont understand the way forums or indeed the internet works.
Please note I am not placing you personally in this category but this is something I think all the time when people put up such questions and often as their first or second post.

as of last week mexican haze from the tweed/damkring, royal hash from basjoes & caramello from tweed/damkring, these were all at their best last week, dont do what sh@dy says unless you know the cs well & u r friendly with them because 90% of the time they will push the most expensive shit even if it is absolute shit, even more so if its absolute shit.
i think this is a really good idea for a sticky thread, i mean yea sure we can read all the trip reports,&i nearly always do, but if your in a rush a quick print up of the last page on the thread would be ideal

Pauli has a good point even though I usually tell people to ask the budtender. I've yet to be steered wrong, but...
