these guys do dinner a couple of nights a week, you have to ring on the day to book a plate/place
cool squattery vibes i reckon, never been, they charge a sliding scale depending on what you can afford, language challenge too so i'm looking out for ya

theres this free touristy map leaflet thing everywhere, its a pale yellow Amsterdam City Spy, they have a website too www.cityspy.info, anyway the leafet is everywhere and i kept it for the tram lines but it has loadsa tips on it, its mainly advertising but theres some good little tidbit in it.
its all over the place, you should manage to pick it up somewhere

If you are used to buying your meat at the butcher's, bread at the bakers etc., Holland isn't the cheapest. Well you said you lived in A'dam, yes I'm an American, but I've seen those Albert Heyns everywhere. My PC got jammed when I went to their page with all of their stores in Amsterdam.

groceries arent cheap where im at in america unless you buy in bulk..costco/sams club etc.
i spent like $70 today at qfc on mainly dogfood..few cans of corned beef hash,lemonade, oysters,etc. so including my trip to ostco today i spent like $420 on groceries.
