I`m back from Prague, and i can now maybe analyze the Amsterdam experience a bit.
When i left Amsterdam, i only felt a little disapointed, but since then the feeling has only been growing. I really do think, that for me Amsterdam was a HUGE letdown, mainly because of my own actions...and because now i know what i should have done different, and would have gotten a much better experience of the city.
Firstly, a full week was way too much time to spend there (should have stayed in Rotterdam for more than one day though), 2-3 full days would have been enough to see and experience the madness going on. Also i made the wrong choice of getting a bed in a hostel, instead of a hotel room or an apatment even. Normally, i do very much enjoy meeting new people, and socializing. But when i`m stoned, i just sort of concentrate on my own things, and ignore everyone and everything else (somewhat depends on the smoke ofcourse, at times i can get super talkative also). And that is pretty impossible in a hostel.
Prague was reaallly nice as always though, but currently i`m considering to give Amsterdam a second chance sometime late winter or early spring, because i believe the reason i was not having a good time is inside my head, having too different vision of what it would be like, than what it actually turned to be. So next time i will make a different approach to it, and see if it comes out any better.
Don`t know if this made any sense, or actually is helping anyone, but these are just my thoughts...

I've done hostels, but with a friend and that was alright. After renting an apartment, I'd have a tough time with anything else. One thing I'm glad of for my first trip is that I did no research whatsoever, except I saw a list of HT winners. I only had a coffeeshop map and a stupid guide book, which I barely read. I had no clue what to expect, spent almost two weeks there and stayed in 3 different locations to get a feel for the city. Hope you have fun next time.
