Hi,

New to the forum.

I will be visiting Amsterdam and Haarlem in mid-October.

Want to know if is worthwhile to bring some American whiskey or American cigarettes for trade or barter?

We are allowed to bring 2 bottles and up to 500 cigarettes.

I do not smoke tobacco nor do I drink whiskey but would bring some if I can trade or barter.

Any information would be helpful.

Tobbacco is relatively cheap in Holland and a better place to barter the booze is Sweden. Good Luck though and Welcome to the site

Regardless, I am very much looking forward to the trip and enjoying the coffeeshop seen.

At 52 years and a lifetime of enjoying the culture it is really High Time I got to Holland.

I noticed this whilst we were over there. In fact, on the trans-Atlantic flight there were these three teenage Dutch girls sitting in front of us and they all were wearing some sort of A&F apparel. Strange

Thanks for sharing your observations Metal....but designer clothing and other such consumerist silliness is not anything I would venture a gamble on in terms of barter/trade possibilities.

Booze and tobacco were vices that I thought might be cheaper here than there. I have learned it would not be a great idea so I wont bother to carry the extra weight.

Appreciate the input though.

I don't blame you...I certainly wouldn't want to waste my time with that ridiculousness. Honestly, there's really no need to waste your luggage space with our American commodities. There's plenty of liquor in the 'dam and tobacco is cheap and plentiful. It was an interesting idea on your part, though

When were living it up in Amsterdam a little over a week ago we were blessed with perfect weather. It couldn't have gotten warmer than 75° with zero humidity. Upon arriving back in the States, we landed at Philadelphia only to be greeted with a weather report stating that it was 88°!! We were already pissed about having to come home and this was just an extra kick in the nuts.

LOL you're not allowed to bring firewater to the natives socrates. ( we've already got far too much anyway). Also we haven't any Buffalo pelts to trade with.
I'm in Amsterdam at the same time as you, solo this time so it would be good to meet up with some fellow tokers. Perhaps a m & g could be organised a bit closer to the time.

in town then hoping off to haarlem to get some jelly hash i would say 420 would be best location for a meet and greet always had a few spare tables and one of the most chilled laid back coffee shops round. is my 18th trip out taking a few newbies out again and my smoking partner(not gay just someone who doesnt loose it after a couple hours smoking) but ill try to loose the newbies for a meet annd greet and will try to bring a big selection of smokes its mates birthday so getting terminator maybe some Gran Daddy Super Melt hash

imho reading this document is the very most important preparation you can do to ensure your own safety in amsterdam traffic, because being hit by a bicycle could ruin your day ...

StonedSince'67 i did it ages ago nearly get killed untold amount of times by cars trams and bloody bikes, so i rate it a very important and must read for any newbies i take
