"got the Nh Amsterdam Centre by the Leidseplein for $79."

A great price for that hotel. But right now that hotel is going for $10-11 cheaper as far as a winning bid. Although once you add in the tax and fee you are back up to $79.

Virtually everyone I see at TA is getting that hotel for $68 and $69 as far as a bid.

We got this for £60 a night for 27/28 December a week before

Nice place, although a bit out of town (on a tram line though)

which one of the sites to use?
priceline.com your bid is in US$ or
priceline.co.uk your bid is in £

Is the best site to use pl.com to take advantage of the low US$??

Lion King as far as we can tell you get the same price at either site....PL.com or UK. Only difference is figuring that exchange rate when you bid. You may be bidding in pounds but PL sees it as US $$$.

But something I should have mentioned. Those sites like betterbidding make it on people placing their bids thru their links. (not sure if you get PL.com or can get the UK site for PL also)

But its a good service and worth a try to do this. It cost you nothing and it keeps them in business. And they provide a great service.

Lion King based on where you live I believe it will be the UK site that you will need to use.

Although I have read where those outside the US and Canada have figured out a way to use the US site. Just no reason to that I can see.

Very helpful info.
what to start bidding for a 4* hotel in city centre april 1-5? Im thinking 42£.
How much are tax and fees? Is the 5 % city tax inc?

For a 4 star hotel in the centrum zone, £42-£43 should get you a winning bid. If not, just increase your bid by £1 per day. You'll have to pay about another £5 in taxes and charges (including city tax) so it will total about £48 per night.
It's highly likely that you will get the nh Amsterdam Centre on the southern edge of Leidseplein. A fine, comfortable hotel with modern decor and amenities. Be sure to ask for a smoking room, I don't know what their attitude is towards cannabis but I just smoke out of an open window when I stay there and haven't had any problems.
Good luck with your bids.

I used priceline.co.uk for my three day trip over in February. NH Amsterdam Centre £44 per night. Can't grumble with that....

Got the 4 * Moevenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre (GBP £49/night).
Been bidding for a week started at £42.
Good deal if you compare with the prices on their website. Cheaper than the apartment ive booked. Im happy
Looks like they only have non-smoking rooms
Anyone stayed here??

Is that price including the taxes/fees? Or do they have to be added to that price?

im staying 4 nights. 4 x £ 49=196 + tax and fees(including VAT) £ 30 = £226
Might have paid a few pounds too much but it was my first time bidding on a hotel.
Yeah i know the moevenpick is located on the 'wrong' side of the station with no coffeshops close by.
I have hoped to get the nh amsterdam centre on leidseplein with smoking rooms but thats a part of deal with pl you cant choose your hotel only the rating.

Moevenpick

I made the same error with the bidding. Bid 55 pounds and got the Moevenpick as well. First time ever using that priceline feature. Wish I'd read this thread beforehand!
Still it is a great deal for that hotel/time of year. The cheapest price on any other 'normal' hotel booking price was 3x more expensive.

I wonder how low a 3 star hotel can be purchased for?

As far as PL I would forget a 3 star. At least in AMS.

AMS is just not a PL 3 * city as far as bidding.

Its either a 4 or a 5 as far as any decent action.
