40 Hours In Amsterdam

This was my 8th trip to Amsterdam, and sadly shortest trip (due to funds) and it was my mates second. Got the train from Liverpool Street to Harwich to Amsterdam and back for £80.
Nightmare journey as both 6hr ferry crossing were full of kids and strange clowns attempting to entertain them! At least I had some Quaze on the way back to numb my mind. Stayed at hotel the crown on Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Great location but crappy hotel. Sorry for the size of pics.

Day1
After getting up at 5, Liverpool Street at 6am we reached dam at 6.30pm.straigit to:

The Coin (Hunters):
1g SoGouda (g13xBlueberryxCheese) E10.50 - smelt cheesy in the tub, small light rock buds. But lacked smell in the bag and when crumbling.
I was worried id made a mistake but was pleasantly surprised when I was hit with the medical cheese tang I know from cheese in the UK.
It lingered for at least 20mins.listed as an indica but a pleasant, friendly, uppy high crept up on me.7.5/10
Also: looked at sour diesel - smelt ok but I don’t buy diesels unless they jump out as I’ve had too many sub par examples in recent visits.

GreenPlace:
1g Purple wreck E12 only the odd tiny bit of purple but these were sexy looking buds. Amazing indescribable smell in the grinder. It tastes like the Purple Kush I had in January with trippy a twist that gives a twisted high!
High was fast Hitting and strong- Moorish. I had to scrape myself out of the seats in the smoking room. Amazing 10/10

Image
1g Mango Kush E14 - lovely golden bud, with tiny purple hues, - aniseedey fresh mad sweet smell. I decided it tasted like alien sour candy and my fried said it tasted like the breath of a puppy that had just eaten a grown room full of Prime buds. It had a lovely rank dirtiness to it. I could write a novel on this strain. My pics dont do it justice. 11/10
Image
1g Train Wreck E10 - great price, nice sized bud with square crystals. Lemon/herbal/citrus smell that transferred to a lemony taste. uppy thai high. 8.5/10
Image
also: Blueberry cheese smelt very good(wish i smoked it)
Smoked in here for a while till it was time to go to bed.

Day2
Grey Area:
East Coast Sour Diesel E12 I was so excited to smoke this. I have dreamt about it for years. in the box it had a herbal musky chemmy smell, that erupted extremely potently when crumbled. At first I was disappointed as the taste wasn't as strong and almost synthetic as I hoped but the second, and bigger, spliff proved me wrong and I enjoyed the fuelled soaked fruity taste. 8.5/10
Image
Chocoloupe E12 - super frosty buds, tasted a bit cheesy with sharp and sagey tones. Gave a racing up high. Very good. Although nothing like the last time I tried this strain from Tweede. 8.5/10
Image
Other: new item on menu: outdoor Kush E11.50, disappointed with the smell of LA woman as I was excited to try MMGxLAcon. Recon did not look or smell like it did in Jan 09.
The GA has gone down in my opinion; they used to always have the biggest best buds. I used to say they had a 'grey' flavour that was found thought their wares, separating them as the best shop. Now all greenplace's top smokes seem to have an amazing similar trait that appears in every strain.

Amnesia:
1g Quaze Haze E17 female budtender opened the tupperware to revel a big block of quaze that had been packed. I was sceptical at first viewing for a sec, then the smell wafted up and I was sold.
Sat down broke it up slightly to reveal all the small calyx’s. Amazing looking. Tastes of floral nectar, also woodsy.. expaannnnnsive smoke with a clear euphoric cerebral high. 9.5/10
Image
.5g LSD E6.50 - skunky sweet tastes and smell with a warm high. 7.5/10
Image

HGF
Walked in, asked to see the cheese, it looked and smelt 5/10 for E12.50 and powerplant (listed as a indica when its 80-20 Sativa) 1/10 as it smelt and looked like freshly mown grass.
I turned around and walked out.

Wertheimpark - sat on grass next to the canal and smoked in the sun until the clouds and an angry swan chased us away.

Bluebird was full so we went into Reefer for a spliff, ok shop, generic menu, friendly service and no music upstairs in smoking room.

Tweede:
1g Amnesia Haze E12. Long orange hairs climbed out the buds. Expansive as hell, cough cough cough, pungent citrus taste with racy high 8.5/10
Image
.5g Kali Mist E5.50 soapy and hazey taste with jerky high. nice but i not as good as I remember. 7/10
.5g Mexican Haze E6 woodsy taste, not much of an up high, was kinda sleepy after smoking the half g in a spliff at one of the small tables. 6.5/10
Smoked in the corner and head off to Burger bar for Kobe burgers. Very nice. Asked for medium and it was red raw inside, loved it. Rare must be soaking in claret.

Greenhouse Centrum
.5g Chemdog E5 super lingering taste with strong high, citrus soapy taste that burnt my nose. 8.5/10
Didn’t like the vibe, too many bouncers, idiots and Amy Winehouse tracks.
Other; looked at another kings kush and it looked poor.

Greenplace:
1g OG Kush E15 - strong sour d flavour with a hit of mint or menthol, better that ecsd in taste and it packed allot more of a punch. Not better than mango but still very nice and heavy stoned with deep flavs. 9/10
Image
3g Purple Kush E30 – super deal at E10 per g. nice purple taste, with a tied down but floating high. Not as stunning in look or high as last time but still very good.
Image
.5g Primira E7.50 nice marroc. Good taste, not very strong.
Got there at 8ish, enjoyed the amnesia, got a better seat by the window and then a crazy thunderstorm. So I was happily stranded there for about 4 hours!!! Had loads of Looza’s and hot chocolates. It was paradise watching lighting tear across the sky from a comfy chair puffing a gram of OG Kush. Easily the best shop all the buds were big and juicy; as well as being sticky and not bone dry (Tweede & hunters downfall because there lit up).

Overall:

Best indica: Purple Wreck / Mango Kush

Best Sativa: Quaze

Best Shop: Greenplace

I WISH I LIVED THERE!

What was it about hotel the crown that made u think it was crappy? I used to stay there every trip (about 10 times) until quite recently they were taken over and prices were put up, hence why i now go to cornerhouse.

I always found mark (tall blonde dutch guy) from hotel the crown to be super friendly and a generally top bloke.

General hygiene was pretty good.the room was really small (didnt matter), some of the lights in the hall didnt work which meant getting up stairs and unlocking the door when extremely high was a long task. The 'tall blonde dutch guy' was indeed very nice, the other guy wasnt very friendly. Window in the room wasnt on properly and it was hard to smoke and not set the alarm off. It wasnt that bad just not at all great. Id choose abba over the crown.also giving the key to the bar every time we went out was annoying.

Hmmm... sounds like this place has really took a dive. Back in the day ALL the staff used to be really friendly, you could smoke to your hearts content in the reasonably priced bar and the rooms were very basic but clean and well mantained. It used to be owned by a British couple, who left Mark to take care of the day to day running which worked brilliantly, and i often paid about €30 a night. As soon as it was bought out by season star group it went rapidly downhill, Mark was the first to agree. Prices went up and standards came down. Even after this I was very reluctant to book into another hotel but eventually had no other option. When I pop in to have a chat with Mark each trip he seems to share the opinion that things have took a serious nosedive!

For a cheap hotel now I use Hotel Cornerhouse. Very basic. Not the friendliest stafff but certainly not the unfriendliest, fairly clean and only about 30-40 euro a night,

Great review and awesome pics dude. I especially like the pic of the Bud on the grinder. Seeing those buds close up like that just reminded me of how good the smoke is in dam and I'm already daydreamin about my trip in december. Keep up the good work. Peace

cheese: my eyes opened ridiculously wide when i saw green place had the purple wreck on the menu. There are some good strains out. i remember reading/seeing that freeworld or somewhere was selling casey jones (headseeds (Thai x Trainwreck) x East Coast Sour Diesel), a strain ive drooled over on the net and never thought id see in dam. didn't have enough time to sniff it out.
baked:i Loved that quaze. i rolled a half g spliff hoping to smoke it before boarding the boat, which ive done before, but the woman said i had 1min to check in. We got the worst uncomfortable seats next to the children's play area and loads of families. after an hour of them driving me mad and giving me a headache we smoked the quaze on the outside deck and the rest of the crossing was much better-laughing at the old man clown & other funny pictures in the shop.
nutty: the mango kush was probably my favorite looking weed and i took so many pics of it but none show it in its full glory. Here's another
