Greetings

Post by Old School Smoker »

Greetings all,
Any room in here for a regular old smoker that has been lurking around this fine site and forum for a while, and has finally decided to take the plunge and join in?
I'm lucky enough to be married to a wonderful Dutch girl and have had many, many adventures in the Nederlands over the years and spent more time in various coffee shops than I care to think about (or is probably good for me!)
My first trip to Amsterdam was my honeymoon way back in 198... My god  was it that long ago!
Unfortunatly my wife is not as well as she used to be, so we don't get to visit as offen these days. Our most recient trip to Amsterdam was in August this year. I was sitting in Vondelpark with a nice, but not too strong indica joint (it was 10 in the morning!) thinking, boy, how things have changed over the years. I remember when you could buy 30g at a time, smoke it with tobaco if that was your thing and do it all with a large beer in front of you! (them were the days!)
I do however get to travel over to the Nederlands on business 5 or 6 times a year, simply because I'm the ony person in the company that speaks Dutch (badly according to my wife!) If I have any spare time on these trips you will normaly find me in HGF (crazy toilet!) GA (if I can find a seat!) or Kadinsky (Rosmarijensteeg) Although from what I read Basjoe may be worth a look these days. So you never know I may run into some of you from time to time.
According to my diary I'm back in the Nederlands at the end of October (Leiden this time) but we both hope to be back in Amsterdam between Christmas and New Year.

Peace to you all.

Old School

P.S. Big thanks to our host Mr Lemming for this fine site!

Welcome to the ACD forum, Old School Smoker. There is always room here for old school folks. :D I bet you could share some stories about the "good ole days" in Amsterdam. Things have changed a lot since those days, I'm sure. The freedoms of peoples are constantly being eroded away, even in tolerant Holland. Peace.

Amen to that! Don't get me started on personal freedom, I admire the openness and tolerance of the dutch people, one reason my wife and I will probably retire to Het Nederlands in a few years. What the hell were you guys thinking when you elected that Christian, right wing dictatorship, sorry government?
I read your artical on their plans to restrict coffee shops to residents only with horror. My personal view is it wouldn't stand up to scruiteny under EU comercial free trade law.
Anyway, rant over!

Thank you all for the welcome.

Peace to you all.

Spidergawd, unfortunatly my trip in October is strictly business and on a very tight time-table. I have to see clients in Leiden, Leidschendam and Delft, so I don't think a trip to Amsterdam is an option this time. I do have a free evening in Leiden so I need to check out the coffee shop situation there.
Sorry for being vague on details, but my job is sensitive and my employer may not appreciate the fact that I have a soft spot for such establishments!

Peace to you all. :D
