Drugs tourism: 'it's over' says Roosendaal
15 September 2009

The towns of Roosendaal and Bergen op Zoom have made a comedy film to let French and Belgian cannabis smokers know that they can no longer buy drugs over the border in Holland.

The border towns' so-called coffee shops (which sell cannabis) have been ordered to stop selling soft drugs from Wednesday because of the nuisance caused by drugs tourism.
Each town has four coffee shops, serving some 25,000 drugs tourists a week.

The film C'est fini follows three Flemish lads attempting to buy a joint in the Netherlands.

Grab some popcorn and put your feet up. The results of this should be fun to watch.

Just wondered if there was any news on the outcome of the legal challange by the coffee shops in question? As I read the artical, the court was due to rule today.

Yeah, the case was rejected. Apparently it should have gone through the administrative and not the civil courts or something.

So any of the 8 former coffeeshops caught selling doob will be closed totally for 5 years. I don't know if there's any further legal recourse possible.

Pity, the Yellow Moon was cool.

Another thread addressed a similar issue, the closure of shops along the border. One question, what problems are being caused by "drug tourists"? Personal note, I detest the term drug tourist.
Are people acting like hooligans, thugs, and deviants at these border towns? If so, then all of this BS is self-inflicted and the majority of us who know how to behave (read chill) pay the penalty as well. If people are not behaving poorly, a rational explanation could be that these areas are populated by either ultra-conservatives, ultra-nationalists (racists), or both.

Irrational behavior either way.
Peace.

If we are going to label people, can we not say most tourists are drug tourists? Alcohol is a drug and so is nicotine...

Really fu*ks me off all this. I am an adult. I can choose what I do with my own body, as long as it doesn’t affect others…

God forbid we should have people stumbling around a town stoned. I would much prefer the alcohol fuelled near riot situation of most Friday and Saturday nights in YOUR local town.
