I had a job guarding tour buses at Mountain Winery- a concert venue near San Francisco. I chose the tour buses since no one else wanted that post and because it's the most chilled job. Real quiet people and supervisers wise during the show but good acoustics. Uncharacteristicly I got a radio call at the very end of Willie Nelson's encore warning me that Willie had just invited any concert goer (patron) to meet him at his bus and hang out after the show and that she was sending me help to organize a line for bus entry. Willie took five patrons at a time and they went into the bus and hung out. Some got high with Willie, got autographs, sung along with him etc- Willie was up for about anything. After about 90 minutes or so there weren't anymore patrons and I was preparing to check out and head on home when Willie came out of the bus and asked me to come inside so he could thank me for the great job I had been doing guarding the bus and treating his fans kindly.
So I had a one on one joint with Willie- he was pretty stoned and at one point I started singing Don't bogart that joint my son pass it over to me and he joined right in. I'm smiling right now thinking about it.
I told this story to another concert worker friend of mine and he said at a Willie show he worked Willie came out after the show and sat on the stage and talked and toked with everyone until there was no one left in the hall.

I mean, you sit there and listen to him babble on about how he did a "death touch" on himself 1 night, and then figure out how he is still alive... just comical

I have 2, one of which was an odd, wonderful and other worldly experience. The other was amazing as well. First off in 1997 I worked with Kansas CIty's musical festival committee as a design artist, and assistant stage manager during the event. I worked for them from 1997 - 2000, but in 1997 I had the great fortune to spend nearly an hour hanging out with Michael Hutchence, smoking some doobs I had brought. This was on Labor Day weekend (Sept 5th for non US folks that dont spend time fussing about our holidays) and as we know, sadly Mr Hutchence was dead a month later, which truly freaked me out for quite awhile.
The second is still unbelievable to me, and probably everyone I share it with. Lawrence, KS isnt too far from me...good college town. In 1983 (if my lousy memory serves) I had a friend who was a DJ at the University of Kansas Student Radio Station. He told me a band was coming in to play at a club called the Outhouse, and If I would help unload, setup, and break down and reload, He would get me a free ticket, and I could go to the after party. Well, it turned out the band was an as yet unknown R.E.M. who arrived in a station wagon with a uhaul, and the weirdness doesn't stop there. The after party was at William Burroughs house. In later life he lived in Lawrence, in a non-descript house, in a regular old neighborhood. Not all REM members were tokers. Stipe didn't smoke, neither did Mike Mills, but Bill Berry and Peter Buck sure did, and Burroughs was a monster smoker, then he got the shrooms out.
Sometimes it seems liked I dreamed that, considering I was sitting in a room with 4 future legends, and one definite Living (at the time) Legend. It was so cool when Burroughs was still alive. You would see him out for a stroll in his neighborhood, and not a soul would bother or harass him for autographs, or OMG its William Burroughs. Most probably didnt recognize him anyway, so he had a very peaceful existence there with no problems being in public places like many famous people do.

Haha, the "Touch of Death". Very very few masters of Martial Arts can correctly execute the Dim Mak, but when they do, that's all she wrote...but Ive never known a stoner Martial Arts Master, so I think its a kickass funny story.liquidSwords wrote:Most interesting person i've smoked with...
