Safety concerns stop high speed trains
1 October 2009
High speed train services between Amsterdam and Rotterdam have been suspended for two days as engineers are checking possible faults in the safety system.
Infrastructure supervisor ProRail says the system on the high speed rail link was producing error messages.
On Thursday and Friday, people travelling by train between the Dutch capital and Rotterdam are advised to use the regular services instead, which take about half an hour longer.
High speed services between the two major cities only began on 7 September, after years of building and testing.
