Summed it up for me too.

Yeah i can definately see why Pink Floyd is missed so much by a lot of people - i loved it in there. But quite a few memories of coffeeshops have changed for me over the years due to either redecoration or new laws. Drinking a beer, having and vapo and playing pool in De Kuil will always stick with me as a great memory!!

I feel that amsterdam has gained more a commercial vibe. The same chains seem to be taking over the town, it does bum me out a bit. But you have to search further for the old amsterdam experience i guess.

maryjane is a synonym for marijuana, and mecca the pilgrimmage site for muslims. so i conclude he means it is world's weed capital.

Its good that you can walk around @ like 1-2am without being hassled near non stop,& places like haarlemmerstraat/nieumarkt are no longer "no go" zones for us solo travelers after dark,I 1st visited amsterdam back in the year 2000 & they were tons of dealers/junkies & even street prostitutes often just hanging around! & it was intimidating if you had to walk past them cos you knew someone was gona ask for something! ie a cigarette/change/light or even the time,The smoking ban/Mushrooms & the reduction of the windows aside amsterdam feels a lot better off without them like.

University sacks peeping tom with camera

Thursday 22 October 2009

A worker at Radboud University in Nijmegen has been sacked on the spot for placing a webcam in an invalid toilet, Nos tv reports.

The camera was spotted by university staff last week.

Nos says it is not clear which faculty was affected nor what the peeping tom was doing with the film. The people who found the camera are very shocked by the incident but have decided not to make a formal complaint, Nos says.

Really has gone thru some changes since my first trip 79'. Amsterdam has cleaned up a lot since those days but it only had a couple of coffeeshops back then. Love all the choices of coffeeshops there these days. Beautiful place beautiful people.
Peace 2 all...
