Hi Everyone thought i would ask everybodies opinion of the Cannabis cup.I visited about six years ago and was talked out of going by various coffeeshop owners. At the time i had no idea of the price to get in and thought it was steep to say the least.
I have two schools of thought on this.Basically it caters for our American friends is overated with the same winners every year and does not really reflect the coffeeshop scene
Or I have been a complete tight fisted miserable fool and should of gone years ago!

So which one is it, and please there is nothing wrong in catering for the Americans i love the usa and the people its a great country.

nothing wrong in being tight. having to pay for the cannabis cup skunk/hash entries on top of whatever it costs to be a judge puts me right off, and of course same winners all the time

I've never gone, but I thought I'd weigh in:

PROS
1. It seems the shops might be holding out on some nicely cured buds to try
2. Get to meet up with some friends and party
3. Free seeds from expo?
4. Airfare usually cheaper this time of year.

CONS
1. Expensive: buy a judges pass and then pay for weed.
2. Coffeeshops crowded?
3. Cold time of year to visit.

Well these are things I've thought of when I ponder going.

Not worth it imo, its not the amsterdam vibe. Unless your American when it might be a nice way to see the city for a first time as there'll be alot of your fellow country people about so might make it more ' homely.'

I wouldnt, i love amsterdam in winter, i hate the high prices of rooms and buds and the crowdness that comes along with it. Give me a sunday morning in december sitting inside picasso, in the the warm with a nice bit of hash. Watching Amsterdam go along its natural way in the morning light any day.

IMO, it all depends on the person. I paid for a pass in 2003, I had a great time and meet some great people. That was probably the first and last time for me. I think that if you have the money to try it at least once, so you can form your own opinion!

Peace,
Balou

a bit crowded imo. also wouldn't personally buy a judges pass. seems like hype to me. i dont need to be surrounded by a bunch of my countrymen to have a good time. im sure some people like it though so its whatever. may be good for a first trip but like someone else said doesn't really accurately show the dutch coffeeshop scene.

i think the one day pass is 50E to CC
it 200Euro if you didnt get it b4 the deadline
and the WEED/hash sold during cup is some what cheaper BUT not by much and some are at price theyll be on menu IF the CS sell it after CC!
Greenhouse the years i was there was selling SuperKaliMist and hawaiian snow for 1/2 the normal price!

Expos worth seing and Melkweg party Can be GOOD all depends on whos there!! the years i was there George Clinton Fishbones and pink floyd cover band played at melkweg!!
